Volunteering in a rented two room orphanage that has a moderate sized outdoor covered porch (pictured above) and very small barren dirt walled courtyard with thirty children. All five orphanage staff are local native volunteers.

…The Focus! What to do Now!

1. Provide financial, material, and volunteer assistance to the orphanage on both short-term and long-term care improvement targets

2. Provide assistance to the family that provided me with food and shelter during my two month stay –their home has subsequently been destroyed by flooding since I left Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso -Africa

Five Areas Of Need: Food - more nutrition Shelter - cramped (sleep on floor), usually naked Medical - nonexistent Play - very cramped, limited recreation area Education - not existent!

Medical: Begin a program of hygiene training, vaccinations, prevention, and fundraising for needed child surgeries

Play: Even simple toys are neededWhen the orphanage moves to the New Location there will be more room to play – equipment needed

Education: There is a great need for sufficient and qualified teaching staff –no teachers regularly available (illiteracy)
