Special Needs/Comments________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Lake Yale does not have any elevators. The second floor is access by stairs only. I will ask for as many first floor rooms as possible.

Do you need a first floor room due to physical limitations? _____Yes _____No

Handicapped Room _____Yes _____No Handicapped rooms have only one bed, so if you are requesting double occupancy, one of you would end up sleeping on a Roll-Away bed. The rooms have garden tubs, so if stepping over the tub is not a problem then one of the regular rooms would be better for double occupancy.

Toni Ransfield The Art of Pen Making

Have you ever wanted to make a professional looking pen, something beautiful, more than the usual Bic Pen? Challenge yourself with this class by first learning how to make 2 Millefiori canes. I will make it easy, promise!! No need to fear this class. I know you can do it!! I will guide you the whole step of the way.

You can either bring canes already made or purchase a kit for the class, which willcontain the necessary items to make a pen with or without a cane. The canes need to be pre-made, so they are firm. The ones we make in class will be too softto use. I will show you how to slice them thin to apply them to the brass tubes, sanding as well as polishing the blank. Next you will assemble your pen kit. All the mysteries will be revealed in this class on how to create your pen masterpiece.

You will leave this workshop with 2 canes and a finished pen.

Experience level: All skill levels welcome.

Maureen CarlsonFiguratively Speaking with Dorothy

6-Inch tall mixed-media Dot is a Dorothywannabe as she loves rainbows, little blackdogs and grand adventures. She evendresses the part in her gingham fabric-over-polymer dress. However she didn'tquite make the cut in the local play as shecan't sing, thus her wistful expression. Shecan dance, though, as her polymer clayarms and legs are jointed with eye pins atthe knees and elbows. For those peoplewho are intimidated by sculpture, thisproject will be done in stages, concentrating on one part at a time, whichis where the magic comes in. The firststage will be making the polymer clay feet, face, body and pantaloons. Molds will beavailable to help with the face. The secondstage is the back of the head, the shirt andthe laminated fabric-over-polymer dress, which is way easier than it looks. Theprecut pieces of fabric control the size andthe soft polymer backing helps the gathersstay in place. The third stage is making thearms and adding the ruby-red slippers. After she cools from the final bake, herarms and legs will be attached and her wool roving hair will be glued in place, then tied with a silk ribbon.

Skills learned will be the practicality of baking polymer clay in stages, working with wire armatures, laminating fabric over polymer clay, "sewing" with clay, making shoes, sculpting winsome faces, making basic hand shapes and creating simple wigs.
