PHILOSOPHYWhile we often apply human attributes to our companion pets, this isn’t the approach to be taken with their diets.

Cats and dogs evolved as hunters and, despite a modern lifestyle, their anatomical features are adapted to an almost exclusively meat-based diet.

Designed to mirror the natural diet, Biologically Appropriate ORIJEN features an ingredient ratio of up to 80% meat, 20% fruits and vegetables, and 0% grains (80/20/0).

2 BIOLOGICALLY APPROPRIATE RULE NUMBER

PROTEIN vs. CARBOHYDRATES | AN UP AND DOWN RELATIONSHIP.

Most pet owners are unaware of the relationship between protein and carbohydrates in their pet’s food. Yet it’s quite simple. IF ONE GOES UP, THE OTHER MUST GO DOWN. In other words, the more protein in the food, the less room there is for carbohydrates.

And that’s good, because while protein is essential for peak health, dogs and cats have absolutely NO requirement for carbohydrates. And while carbohydrates are a leading cause of obesity and diabetes in cats and dogs, conventional pet foods often exceed 50% in total carbohydrate content.

The Association of American Feed Control Officials’ (AAFCO) 2009 Pet Food Nutrient Profiles show that dogs and cats do not require
