Co-op Procedure Identify a need or Project and write up a job description Contact Shannon Lever at Willis College 613-283-1905 A student will be presented based on the co-op and the strengths of the student

whereby Shannon will present you with an profile and resume. An interview will be arranged between the student and the client Once established and it is a mutual fit then let Willis College (Shannon) know and the

paperwork will be initiated. Step 1 : Co-op Contract to be signed by the student, client and placement coordinator

as well as campus manager Ann Knowlton. Step 2: Evaluation and Timesheet will be sent as well as given to the student. Step 3: The WSIB and Insurance will be issued and sent to the client including

liabilty and malpractice.

Once again this is a great opportunity for the student to apply there knowledge learned in school to the workplace. This is also a win/win for the client who can utilize another person in the office to work on a specific project or cover a temporary need. Both parties win and in a lot of cases the student has proven there skills and in return is hired!

Co-op Program-Willis College Co-op is offered in all of our programs. We have specific programs that have a co-op built in to the

program. 48 week-Executive Business Administration/6 week co-op 25 hours – 35 per week

41 week -Human Resources with Payroll -6 week co-op-25-25 hours per week. (8 all other programs can offer a co-op) 42 week -Medical Office with Ward Clerk/4 week co-op /25-35 hours per week. 46 week-Addictions and Community Support Worker/8 week co-op/30 hours

per week 25 week Personal Support Worker /NACC Diploma/10 week co-op

Quick Facts

The Government of Canada has taken a number of steps to ensure Canadians have the skills for the jobs in demand today including the Canada Job Grant and apprenticeship grants.Economic Action Plan 2014 proposes several measures to ensure training reflects the needs of the labour market and Canadians have the skills to take advantage of the jobs and opportunities available to them, such as the Canada Apprentice Loan, which could provide up to $4,000 in interest-free loans per period of technical training for apprentices registered in their first Red Seal trade.The Government of Canada is also introducing the new Flexibility and Innovation in Apprenticeship Technical Training pilot project that will explore ways to allow apprentices to continue working while fulfilling the technical training requirements of their programs.
