Dear Friends, Over the past weeks we have been focusing our church gatherings around four specific themes: Peace, Brokenness, Grace, and Given. Our friends at Church of the Beloved in Seattle, Washington have structured their worship gatherings around these four themes and so each week we have been exploring these themes one by one and asking the question, “What would you expect from a community of faith that based their gatherings around these themes?” In our discussions and experiments we have begun to practice entering times of worship in peace. We have begun to discover that God is present in community and that we can be a gathering of peace amidst a world of chaos. We have also discovered that the brokenness we experience in this world is not something that we have to deal with on our own. And we have struggled with the idea that brokenness can also be a blessing. We have learned that we are not only called to be a community of peace but also a community of grace. We are often lost and in need of acceptance, or we can become indignant of the grace show to others. Whatever the case, we know that God’s grace is bigger. No matter what our struggles or questions God accepts us. This week we finish our four-week series with a focus on being Given. In light of and in response to the peace and grace that we have experienced how are we to respond? How can we invite others into this community of peace and grace? Through all of these conversations together we have gathered together just as we are and each week we have had bread and wine. The simple combination of sharing hearty bread and spirited wine has served as a constant reminder that through all of our questions and struggles Christ is in some way present in our community. My prayer is that we can continue this journey together to see that our brokenness is not the final word, that we are invited into a community of peace, that we are accepted by God’s grace, and that through all of this Christ is present. Peace and Grace, Nate A new small group focused on discipleship will begin in the upcoming weeks. This will be a group highly committed to living out the calling of Jesus to live in his Way. A community searching, exploring, and learning together what it means to be disciples of Jesus while embracing the mystery and grace of God.

Dear Friends,

Over the past weeks we have been focusing our church gatherings around four specific themes: Peace, Brokenness, Grace, and Given. Our friends at Church of the Beloved in Seattle, Washington have structured their worship gatherings around these four themes and so each week we have been exploring these themes one by one and asking the question, “What would you expect from a community of faith that based their gatherings around these themes?”

In our discussions and experiments we have begun to practice entering times of worship in peace.

In light of and in response to the peace and grace that we have experienced

how are we to respond? How can we invite others into this community of peace and grace? Through all of these conversations together we have gathered together just as we are and each week we have had bread and wine. The simple combination of sharing hearty bread and spirited wine has served as a constant reminder that through all of our questions and struggles Christ is in some way present in our community.

My prayer is that we can continue this journey together to see that our brokenness is not the final word, that we are invited into a community of peace, that we are accepted by God’s grace, and that through all of this Christ is present. Peace and Grace,Nate

A new small group focused on discipleship will begin in the upcoming weeks. This will be a group highly committed to living out the calling of Jesus to live in his Way. Please realize, that this group is not for the faint of heart, but anyone with interest should see Nate for more information.
