OSi’s Function

•Maintain & develop the underlying physical infrastructure which is needed to support mapping applications

•Create & maintain for the entire State mapping and related geographic databases

•Encourage and promote its benefits

•Advice to Government on survey, mapping & geographic informationand development of national spatial data infrastructures

•Technical support to the Chief Boundary Surveyor in performance of his or her duties in delimiting statutory boundaries

•Protecting copyright

National Land Use Mapping initiative

•Working group has decided to use the new OSi digital mapping framework (Prime2) as the storage model
