Ordination of Preston Cooley

By

Dr. Ryan Wilson

February 3 will be a day of celebration at Trinity as we ordain Preston to the

Gospel Ministry. Preston and Kelli will also be dedicating Liam that day. After Trin-

ity hired Preston as our Associate Minister to Students, the deacons put together an

ordination council to meet with Preston and to make a recommendation to Trinity

concerning Preston’s fitness for ministry.

Preston met with Rusty Brock, Martha Hammett, Brenda Shaver, Dan Vincent,

Tiffany Hamilton, Derrill Smith, Tony Vincent, Becky Scruggs, Dan Laird, Todd

Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Rocky Nation, and Ed Evans on January 13. After Preston

shared some of his faith journey, calling to ministry, and philosophy of ministry, the

council asked him questions and offered him thoughts and insights for future minis-

try. Finally, the committee voted unanimously to recommend that Trinity ordain

Preston.

We were all reminded that God is still very active raising up new leaders within

the Church. God calls folks to serve and then helps to equip them for the service at

hand. Preston truly has a heart for ministry to students; and on the 3rd, Trinity will

help to affirm God’s call of him by laying hands on Preston. I have encouraged the

youth to consider going forward to take part in the service, and I hope that many of

them and others in the congregation will feel led to do so.

The Holy Spirit continues to lead the way, and I hope that you will experience

God’s wind blowing on the 3rd!

STAFF BIRTHDAYS

Preston Cooley - February 7

Susan Brock - February 22

We welcome Amy Peebles to our Trinity Church family.

She joined on December 23, 2018 by letter from another Christian

Church. Amy resides at 235 Riverbank Ct., Seneca, SC 29678, and her

cell phone number is 864-723-2151.

Our spring musical is well under way. We have 45 children participating this year. What a blessing to our church! So many seeds are being planted each week through Bible study, scripture

reading, and music. We have 8 devoted leaders helping each week, and we are overwhelmed with joy as we see God’s spirit through every participant.

The winter Bible study for our 4-year-olds and kindergartners will begin Sunday, February 24, and last 6 weeks. They will meet Sunday evenings from 6-7:30.

All children’s choirs will sing in worship on Sunday, February 24.

VBS - June 9-13

Camp Prism - July 16-19 for completed 3rd-5th graders

My New Year’s prayer for our children’s ministry is that our children continue to grow in their relationship with God, that

our children are confident in Christ, and that we are an example of Jesus to all we meet.

Hello everyone! I hope your 2019 has gotten off to a great start. We have slowly gotten into our usual schedule at TBCY, and I am excited to cover the last part of our Gospel Project Bible Study in the coming weeks. This is also the time of year when our seniors begin looking at colleges and making decisions, and I am proud to share that Grayson Holbrooks has been accepted to the Col-lege of Charleston! Our other seniors are getting close to making their own choices, and I will happily share that once they decide.

Speaking of decisions, as you know Madi Duvall and Meg Nation made a decision at the end of last year to give their lives to Christ; and now Brandon Glenn has made that decision as well. He will be baptized in the coming weeks, and I am so proud of his decision. Brandon has been a leader for our group, growing up at Trinity, and now graduating this year. We will miss his pres-ence, but he is making the most of his last year at TBCY.

This month we have our ski trip, and spots are filling up quickly. We will leave February 14 after school and come back Sunday, the 17th. We are heading to Winterplace, West Virginia. Make sure you have a completed health form and $250 paid before we leave. Pack for all kinds of weather. We have seen blizzards, gym shorts, and all kinds of weather in between; so be pre-pared for it all!

A couple of dates for future events: - February 10 the high school chorus and Trinity's adult choir will be singing together in worship. - March 17 is Youth Sunday. - The Children's Musical is April 6 & 7. - Graduation Sunday is May 19. This will include our college graduates, Chelsea Huston and Chad Ownbey.

February Missions OpportunitiesFebruary Missions OpportunitiesFebruary Missions Opportunities

Take note of these opportunities to be a part of Trinity on Mission’s work in our community in February!

Sunday School classes will be providing the Sabbath Soup Kitchen meals at Our Daily Bread in the month of

February. See Tony for information on how you can join with their work of love here in our community.

We need cookies! We will be supporting another Kairos weekend at McCormick Prison, March 14-17. You

will be asked to bake cookies and have them to the church by March 13. You can also bake cookies here at

Trinity on Sunday, March 10, and Monday, March 11. There will also be opportunities to sign up to pray at

specific times for the men involved in the discipleship weekend. For more information, see David Howle or

Derrill Smith, two from Trinity who will be going to McCormick to work with the inmates there.

Rise Against Hunger will be Saturday, March 23. We will begin sign-ups at the end of February for those

who are able to help package 50,000 meals for people facing extreme hunger. If you’d like to give toward

the purchase of the food to be packaged, mark your offering “Trinity on Mission.” Trinity’s goal is $6,000!

Upcoming LLL Event: Tuesday, February 26, 3:00 pm Weather-permitting (temperature and clear skies), we’ll head over to

Doug Kingsmore Stadium to take in a 4:00 pm Clemson v. East Tennessee State baseball game. Cost: $8.

Trinity Sanctuary Choir and Seneca High Honors Chorale, February 10

I hope you’ll make every effort to be here on Sunday, February 10, for our

morning worship service. Our Sanctuary Choir will once again join with 50 tre-

mendous local musicians from Seneca High School’s Honors Chorale to present

The Creation: A Rock Cantata. This piece premiered in 1970 and has tremen-

dous energy that will fill our sanctuary with sound as the choir tells the crea-

tion story through jazz/rock fusion music. Approximately 90 voices and a small

jazz ensemble will lead us beautifully in worship. I can’t imagine that you have

ever heard anything like this in worship here at Trinity! Come with an open mind and a welcoming

heart as we are blessed with these special guests joining with our own Sanctuary Choir!

When we partner with these young musicians in ways like this, we’re telling them and our community

how much we value these students and their hard work. Seneca is blessed by the arts programs in

our schools; it is a blessing to be able to share in this music with these gifted artists!

From Tony: “Ask me

about my new cycling

project for the end of

March! Hint: It will

be a (Rio) Grande

time!”

You are invited to our Winter Bible Study,

which will kick off Sunday, February 10, at 6:00

pm. We will have soup and salads for all partici-

pants.

Sunday nights Ryan will lead Exploring the

Way by Marjorie J. Thompson. Books will be

passed out the first night. Sign up near the Fellow-

ship Hall.

The women will be studying The Battle Plan

for Prayer, a Bible study by Stephen Kendrick and

Alex Kendrick. This is a 7 week study that includes

a first night introduction. Workbooks are available

that night for $13. Sign up on women’s bulletin

board to order a book.

The Tuesday morning ladies’ group will

continue with the book study of The Battle Plan for

Prayer Companion Book.

Come see what the studies have to offer!

The Lord’s Supper will be observed on

February 24. 2019 at 10:30.

It is hard to believe that it is time to start

registration for our 2019-2020 Preschool Year.

Registration will begin for current students and

church members on February 4, 2019. If you or a

family member has a child to register for the 2019-

2020 school year, please pick up a registration

packet or go on the church website and download

the information. These forms and registration fee

must be returned before February 18, 2019, in

order to secure your child's spot for next year. Our

classes fill up quickly; so do not wait to complete

the forms. If you have any questions, please feel

free to contact me.

One of our next events at the Preschool will

be Community Helpers’ Week. If you would like

to come and talk to the Preschoolers about your

job, we would love to have you. I will let you all

know the actual dates as soon as we set them. We

also have our Four-Year-Old Art Show coming up

in March along with our Ugly Bug display

(recycled items). Watch for those dates also.
