You must have your plants ready and at the auditorium by 8:30am Friday Jan. 12, 2018. When you bring in your plants come to the front table (on left) to get your plants tags for the show-they must have the show name on them before they go to the display area. In order to have plants in our display they must be prepared. A few basic hints are as follows: 1. Remove all dead or dying leaves. Also trim off any dead leaf tips. 2. Remove all sheathing on plants that have sheathing. I use a spray bottle of water and saturate the sheathing and then scrub with an old toothbrush. 3. Wash your plant leaves. I use carbonated water and a soft towel. It also helps to finish with a product like leaf shine. 4. Stake the flowers if needed to give their best view. Also stake any unruly parts of the plant that don't look good.

December 2017 SOS Meeting Minutes - Final

Denny welcomes all members and Guests to the annual SOS Holiday Dinner and wished everyone a Merry

Christmas and Happy Holidays. The meeting started at 6:45 p.m.

Marta Hudson to review any new members – there were 5 new members and there were many dinner guests

Denny reminded all the members present to pick up their member 2018 Show Raffle tickets from the table in

the front of the room. Tickets are in alphabetical order on the table(s). Please pick your envelope up so we

don’t have to put it in the U.S. mail and pay for postage?

Laurie will review all the Show Committee Openings and talked about what a great time everyone would have

participating in the Show. She asked each Committee chair to stand. She reminded the membership that this

Show is the once a year Society fund raiser to fund our special programs, our Scholarship programs and our

monthly speaker program and plant raffles. He reminded members that if they participate on a committee,

they did not have to pay to get into the Show. Remember, you get the most enjoyment out of your

membership by participating & volunteering. To encourage you to do so, volunteers do not need to pay the

entrance fee of $5.00 for the show. After Dinner we’re going to ask the Committee chairs to gather over by

the plant table (or at a specific empty table) so members could go over and talk to them about joining their

committee.

The committees are … Laurie …. Do you want to get up and talk about openings on Committees
