Guidepost Discovery & Cultural Tours in Indonesia ORANGUTAN & DAYAK TRIBE TOUR 6Day/5Night PACKAGE in CENTRAL KALIMANTAN This tour is a complete Central Kalimantan package. Travel through the magnificent land with stunning views to stay in a local village and experience daily life there. Stroll around the village, swim in the Deland River, enjoy rafting or river tubing, trekking to the primary rain forests or maybe join your host to the farming fields during harvest time. Of course, you will still visit the orangutans and explore Tanjung Puting National Park. ITINERARY DAY 1 : PANGKALAN BUN – CITY TOUR. (L, D) - When you arrive in Pangkalan Bun, our guide from Sister Tour will pick you up at Iskandar Airport Pangkalan Bun. - Check in to your selected hotel, your first lunch with our traditional seafood on the beach. - City tour in Pangkalan Bun. - Stay overnight in your selected hotel. DAY 2 : PANGKALAN BUN – DAYAK VILLAGE – LONG HOUSE. (B, L, D) - After breakfast we will drive by car into Dayak village. It takes about 5 hour or more. After 2 hour driving, we will stop at another regency town to take a lunch. Than continue to Dayak Village. - Arrival in the afternoon. Overnight on the local long house - with towels, bed and pillows provided. In the night time, a traditional dance will be held for you. It is a welcoming ceremony from the local village. DAY 3 : LONG HOUSE – EXPLORE DAYAK VILLAGE – PANGKALAN BUN – KUMAI. (B, L, D) - Breakfast in long house, explore the Dayak Village with the local activities including river rafting. - After lunch we take a leisurely drive back Pangkalan Bun with a stop in Lamandau if time permits. it takes about 5 hours or more until boarding our Kelotok (local boat). - Stay overnight in kelotok. DAY 4 : HOUSEBOAT – CAMP LEAKEY - PONDOK AMBUNG – HOUSEBOAT. (B, L, D) - After breakfast, we are heading slowly upriver to the legendary Leakey Camp. You can enjoy the views of river blackwaters. If you’re lucky enough, you might see orangutan at the riverbank, various birds (stork billed kingfisher is quite common here), and false gharial crocodiles. - On arrival in Leakey Camp, walk up the boardwalk to the camp to see the Orangutan Information Centre. Continue the tour to see the orangutan feeding at 2 pm, staying at leisure as feeding continues till 4 pm. - Walk back to the boat. We moor the boat at Pondok Ambung Tropical Forest Research Station for a night walk (optional). You may find nocturnal primates or wild cats at night in the jungle. - Dinner and overnight on board. DAY 5 : HOUSEBOAT – PONDOK TANGGUI CAMP – REPLANTING TREES – SUNGAI SEKONYER VILLAGE – TANJUNG HARAPAN CAMP - HOUSEBOAT. (B, L, D) - After breakfast, we go downstream on the Sekonyer River and head to Pondok Tanggui Camp to see Orangutan at 9 am. This tour is a complete Central Kalimantan package. Travel through the magnificent land with stunning views to

ITINERARY

DAY 1 : PANGKALAN BUN – CITY TOUR. (L, D) - When you arrive in Pangkalan Bun, our guide from Sister Tour will pick you up at Iskandar Airport Pangkalan Bun. - Check in to your selected hotel, your first lunch with our traditional seafood on the beach. - City tour in Pangkalan Bun. - Stay overnight in your selected hotel.

Friends of National Park Foundation (FNPF), our local NGO (non-government organisation) partner. You are more than welcome to join in replanting trees. - When you are ready, make your way back to the boat and head to the Village of Sekonyer to learn local daily activities. Lunch will be served on board before our visit to the village. - In the village you may learn and practice weaving a simple mat made from reeds. - Back to the boat and look for more Proboscis monkeys rooting in the trees along the riverbank. DAY 6 : HOUSEBOAT - KUMAI – PANGKALAN BUN. (B) - Breakfast on board. - Boating to Kumai town and then Pangkalan Bun airport or hotel - Tour end and thank you for do the tour with sister tour. THINGS YOU MIGHT WANT TO PACK: - Camera plus extra film and battery - Water proof bags for your camera or electrical appliances - Binocular - Hat - Sunglasses - Sun block to avoid sun exposure - Long pants, long sleeves, and socks might also be needed to provide protection from mosquitoes. Mosquito nets are provided on board the kelotok. - Medicine or other personal things.

FOODS: All meals are fresh and hygienic. Please advise us beforehand of any special dietary requirements.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Local government has BANNED the sale of any alcoholic beverages in recent years due to many accidents and problems.

INTERNET AND PHONE COVERAGE: There is NO Internet and Phone Coverage in most of the Tanjung Putting National Park Area although Wi-Fi may be available in major towns.

WEATHER: Because if its proximity to the equator, Kalimantan has a tropical climate. Generally the weather is hot and humid (28-33 degree celcius) during the day, and wet in the evening.

MONETARY ISSUES: You can draw your money via ATM’s here – Visa and MasterCard is readily accepted. The banks in Central Kalimantan are BNI (Bank Negara Indonesia), BRI (Bank Republik Indonesia), MANDIRI, and BCA (Bank Central Asia). Money changers are available at other big cities in Indonesia but are NOT available at Pangkalan Bun. We highly suggest that you change foreign currency to IDR (Indonesian Rupiah) before flying to Pangkalan Bun.
