● Students should carry their device in the provided case to and from school daily.

● Students should exercise caution when using or carrying devices at home and at school.

● Students should plan to charge their devices overnight; thus there is no need to bring chargers to school.

● Limited outlets are available at school for emergency use.

● If a student loses the provided charger, they will need to purchase a new one from the Media Center.

Student Responsibilities

● Read, sign, and adhere to the OCPS Acceptable Use Policy and Student Code of Conduct.

● Access the internet through the OCPS network only.

Parent Responsibilities

● Carefully read the OCPS Acceptable Use Policy.

● Explain the policies to your child.● Check the device daily to make sure it is in

working order and fully charged.● Monitor your child’s daily use of the internet

carefully.

Internet at School

● All internet access from the device and OCPS network is filtered and in compliance with the Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA).

● Filtering is done on the network, not the device.

● Internet access is logged based on the device user.

at this time.● Map of free community Wi-Fi is available on

our website.● Home internet access for $9.95 per month is

available though most cable providers for eligible families with a child participating in the free or reduced lunch program.

Social Media Guidelines

● Edmodo is the only social media site approved for school use.

● Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. are prohibited for use on campus.

● Consequences for inappropriate use of the internet are outlined in the OCPS Student Code of Conduct.

Games, Apps, and Extensions

As stated in the Acceptable Use Policy:● Students may not download or play games

on their provided devices.● Students may not download apps or

extensions to their devices.

● Students who violate policy will be subject to disciplinary action.

● In addition, an administrator may confiscate or, with reasonable cause, search the device, which shall only be returned to the student’s parent/guardian.

● Content or images that violate criminal laws will be forwarded to law enforcement.

● A search of the device will only occur when school officials have a reasonable suspicion that such a search will reveal a violation of school board policy or the OCPS Student Code of Conduct.

Games, Apps, and Extensions● Cheating is using another person’s notes or

work to complete a test or assignment without the teacher’s knowledge.

● Level I offenses are minor acts of misconduct that interfere with the orderly operation of the classroom.

● In addition to disciplinary responses, the student may receive no credit for the assignment, test, or exam at the discretion of the teacher.

Working at Home ProgressBook● Parents can use ProgressBook to stay

aware of their student’s progress. Google Drive and Edmodo● Parents can search Google Drive for

assignments, much like a binder.● Parents can use Edmodo to check

assignments and daily work.
