BI Publisher Overview

• JD Edwards BI Publisher is a set of reporting tools to generate business documents in many formats with full range of functionality such as charts, formulas, watermarks, logos, and customer specific formatting. The tool set is designed to reduce the cost of customizing reports and utilize familiar enhanced desktop tools (Word, Excel, Acrobat, etc) so users can more easily format reports.


Current Reporting Challenges • Modification for format changes requires

customization, may be multiple requirements • Often requires new Batch Report to be built for each

requirement typically by a developer • There are challenges getting reports out of World into

a business form

BI Publisher Enterprise • Create the Report Template then add the name to

the Enterprise Report definition


BI Publisher Enterprise vs. Embedded

• BIP Enterprise intended to empower users to develop and execute reports.

• BIP Enterprise can be installed at no additional cost. Requires additional software installation and only uses Standard JDE files. Must purchase full product to include custom files.

• BIP embedded produces content rich reports that are part of the existing business process.

• BI Publisher embedded is the free toolset included with new releases JD Edwards World beginning with A9.1



• World A7.3 through A8.1 must use the Enterprise Version

• World A9.1 and above can also install the Enterprise version.

• BI Publisher embedded includes features for building templates and executing report tools within JD Edwards World.



• BIP Enterprise includes Excel Analyzer for downloading data to Excel to manipulate and create templates with.

• BIP embedded allows you to create Excel templates.

• BIP Enterprise includes more output formats such as Flash, EDI, EFT, etc



• BIP Enterprise offers more controls for output to repositories.

• BIP embedded allows output of report files to single network location on the Integrated File System (IFS).
