Optional Tours and Events Please advise the church office if you are interested in participating in the following events. No transportation provided. Carpools will be necessary. 12/01 "The Journey” at Savannah Christian Church Journey to the village of Bethlehem as it would have appeared more than 2,000 years ago. Guests become "tribes" going to register as citizens of the Roman Empire. Tribes take a boat trip across the Sea of Galilee, follow Joseph and Mary as they search for an Inn, and see the stable where Christ was born. They visit the shepherds’ plain with live animals, and see merchants, beggars, dancers, Roman soldiers, and the Three Wise Men. A tram ride is offered for the 90 minute presenta- tion from 5 to 8pm and the cost is $15 per person. Expect to be gone from 3 to 10pm. 12/02 Christmas Open House, 6 to 8pm Ashantilly Center in Darien View decorations and listen to Christmas music sung by Camarata, an A Capella group. Donations requested. Dec, ‘16 "Light up the Night", St. Augustine Ride the trolley through the historic district to see the lights and hear Christmas music. SAM Calendar of Events 2016-2017

9/16 $7 Buck Night, 6pm

Storytellers Harry Paisley and Keith McKenzie will present a Civil War program entitled, “Giving Voices to their Story.”

Menu: Hot dogs & fixin’s, chips, beverages, & ice cream; 6pm in the Thorpe Buliding.

Cost is $7.

10/08 Sister Act, Alhambra Theater

We will leave the Thorpe Building at 9:30am for Jacksonville. Lunch will be served at 11am, followed by "Sister Act" at 1:15pm. We will return about 5pm.

Cost is $60 in advance and includes transportation, lunch, show, and gratuity,

10/25 Saints & Sinners Luncheon,12pm

Join us in the Thorpe Building as Rabbi Rachael Bregman, of Temple Beth Tefilloh, presents "Ten Interesting Facts about Judaism".

Please bring a dish to share, Entrée & beverage will be provided.

Cost is $3.

11 /11 $7 Buck Night and Movie, 6pm

In honor of Veterans Day, we will show the heartwarm-ing movie "Max", about a dog that helped U.S. Marines in Afghanistan. To express our thanks for their service, Veterans are invited to be our guests. Pizza and beverages will be provided.

Cost is $7.

12/06 Sapelo Island

Tour Reynolds Mansion, enjoy a festive holiday lunch, then tour lovely Sapelo Island. The bus will leave the Thorpe Building at 7:30am for Darien, where the 8:30 ferry will take us to the Island. We will return about 4pm.

Cost is $50 in advance and includes transportation, lunch, gratuity, and tours.

1/12 $7 Saints & Sinners Luncheon, 12pm

Join us in the Thorpe Building for chili, grilled cheese sandwiches and dessert. (All food provided by SAM Council; no covered dish necessary.)

About 1pm, we will drive to Epworth for a tour of the Arthur J. Moore Museum. View Nativity Scenes from around the world, and hear a presentation on John Wesley by Rev. Dave Hanson.

Cost is $7. A love offering will be requested for the museum.

2/13 Ashantilly Center in Darien

Ashantilly Center was the home of Thomas Spalding, an early Georgia planter, legislator, and McIntosh County landowner. The tour will include the House and Print Shop, which are on the National Register. Also, plan to see the Greeting Card Workshop. After the tour, “go Dutch” for lunch in Darien, and finish the day at Sugar Marsh Cottage for Chocolates! We will leave the Thorpe Building at 8:30am and return about 4pm.

Cost is $10 in advance.

2/28 Saints & Sinners Luncheon, 12pm

Join us in the Thorpe building for a presentation by Angel Medical Flights. This air ambulance service arranges for the safe transport of patients to hospitals.

Bring a dish to share, Entrée & beverage will be provided.

Cost is $3.

3/14 $7 Saints & Sinners Luncheon, 12pm

Join us in the Thorpe Building for St. Patrick’s Day Irish Stew and Bingo. Great prizes, (donated from SAM Council members’ closets), will be awarded to winners!! (All food provided by SAM Council; no covered dish necessary.)

Cost is $7.

4/25 Saints & Sinners Luncheon, 12pm

Join us in the Thorpe building for a presentation by the Rev. Dr. John Farmer. The theme is, “My Story”.

Please bring a dish to share, Entrée & beverage will be provided.

Cost is $3

5/19 $7 Buck “Down Home Night”, 6pm

Playwright, singer, musician, actress, and humorist, Laurie Jo Upchurch will host a rollicking evening of Christian fellowship, music and laughter! A “down home” dinner of fried chicken, mac and cheese, green beans, corn bread, and peach cobbler will follow.

Cost is $7. A love offering will be requested for Laurie Jo.
