OPTIFLUX 2070 is an electromagnetic flowmeter with energy for six years at a measuring rate of once per 5 seconds. The meter was designed for measuring (potable) water with suspended particles. Throughout its history KROHNE has continuously pushed the limits of feasibility in developing and testing new instruments. The results are innovations that go far beyond the requirements of the customer, setting new standards for the market. We continue this tradition with the OPTIFLUX 2070, a combination between the well known OPTIFLUX 2000 flow sensor and the new battery powered converter, the IFC 070. The high operating frequency of 1/20 up to 1 Hz
guarantees reliable measurement results with rapid in- and outflow rates.However, OPTIFLUX also means "proved by KROHNE". This covers specific trials, measurements and tests that go beyond the legal specifications, on which our customers can rely completely.For example, we subject every individual OPTIFLUX electronics to a series of extensive temperature change tests, in which the converter is exposed to cyclical fluctuations from -20°C.…+65°C. Every OPTIFLUX 2070 that leaves our factory is wet-calibrated on KROHNE's certified calibration rigs (EN 17025).

Design
The OPTIFLUX 2070 has many important advantages: outstanding long-term stability, maximum process reliability and no maintenance, to name just a few. All of these features are guaranteed by the OPTIFLUX 2070 internal power package and extreme low power consumption. It delivers precise and reliable measurements for many years operating on batteries. With a sampling rate of 1/5 Hz, the instrument can operate for more than six years.
Performance
Thanks to its unobstructed measuring path, the OPTIFLUX 2070 is superior to mechanical flowmeters, whereas pressure loss and long-term stability are concerned. The cost advantages offered by OPTIFLUX over mechanical meters are significant. The meter has extensive factory-set diagnostic functions that provide continuous self-diagnosis in accordance with international standards.Malfunctions and irregularities are detected and immediately displayed on the high-contrast display.

Construction
The OPTIFLUX 2000 sensor guarantees, even under difficult process conditions, years of trouble-free use.The lining, made of polypropylene or hardrubber, is resistant to corrosion, aging and abrasion. The surface and shape of the measuring tube also minimise mineral deposits, resulting in exemplary measurement quality, even over the long term.
Operating principle
An electrically conductive fluid flows inside an electrically insulating pipe through a magnetic field. This magnetic field is generated by a current, flowing through a pair of field coils. Inside of the fluid, a voltage U is generated:U = v * k * B * D, in which:v = mean flow velocityk = factor correcting for geometryB = magnetic field strengthD = inner diameter of flowmeter
The signal voltage U is picked off by electrodes and is proportional to the main flow velocity v and thus the flow rate q. The signal voltage is quite small (typically 1 mV at v = 3 m/s (10 ft/s) and field coil power of 1 W). Finally, a signal converter is used to amplify the signal voltage, filter it (separate from noise) and convert it into signals for totalising, recording and output processing.
