Al-Bek is located in Rajajinagar 6th

block in bangaloreat Al Bek Kabab Corner

that is a casual style restaurant located at Rajajinagar in Bangalore that serves

Chinese and Mughlai cuisines. It has been passionately serving up its patrons with

scrumptious delicacies like tandoori kebab, pudina kebab, oil fry kebab, kalami

kebab, chicken manchurian, chilli chicken, chilli paneer, spring roll and chowmein

since the last seven years. With the capacity to accommodate about 30 people, Al

Bek Kabab Corner also provides facilities like waiter service and take away food

facilities. The average price for two here costs between Rs. 250 to Rs. 500. This

eatery remains open daily for business from 5 pM to 11 PM. Al Bek Kabab Corner

is a chicken fast food center offering myriad kinds of kebabs and Chinese food. It's

open from evening 5.00 PM to 11.00 PM in the night.

2.KFC

KFC, founded and also known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, is a chain offast

food restaurantsbased inLouisville,Kentucky,United States. KFC has been a

brand and operating segment, termed a conceptofYum! Brandssince 1997 when

that company was spun off fromPepsiCoas Tricon Global Restaurants Inc.

KFC primarily sellschickenpieces,wraps,saladsandsandwiches. While its

primary focus is fried chicken, KFC also offers a line of grilled and roasted

chicken products,side dishesand desserts. Outside the USA, KFC offers beef

Packaging

The famous paper bucket that KFC uses for its larger sized orders of chicken and

has come to signify the company was originally created byWendy'srestaurants

founderDave Thomas. Thomas was originally a franchisee of the original

Kentucky Fried Chicken and operated several outlets in theColumbus, Ohioarea.

His reasoning behind using the paper packaging was that it helped keep the

chicken crisp bywickingaway excess moisture. Thomas was also responsible forthe creation of the famous rotating bucket sign that came to be used at most KFC

locations in the US.

Chicken

KFC's specialty is fried chicken served in various forms. KFC's primary

product ispressure-friedpieces of chicken made with theoriginal recipe.

Kentucky Grilled Chicken

KFC has two lines ofburgersorsandwiches: its "regular" chicken

sandwiches/burgers and its Snackers line.. The Snackers line are cheaper items

that consist of chicken strips and various toppings.

A variety offinger foods, including chicken strips, wings, nuggets, and popcorn

1) How is order taken in Albek and KFC? In the KFC outlet we visited in Rajajinagar, we need to stand on the queue in

the order of entry and we have to wait for our turn and walk up to the billing

counter and to place our order.

Since the KFC has a wide variety of offerings our basic orders are taken

down and asked if we need anything extra in orders so that it can be

modified.

Once the order is placed and the bill paid ,the rep looks behind and passesthe bill on to the workers and they will deliver the product at the earliest in a

neatly arranged plate with enough sauces and tissues.

Extra sauces and tissues are free.

Some of the common enteries like fries,burgers do not take any time coming

but dome items like buckets take a wee bit more time, we know this first

hand not because we order it but because the person before us did.

In the KFC counter we visited in Rajajinagar,(fast food), as and when we walk into

the centre, we stand in the queue in the order of entry and wait for our respective

turns to walk up to the customer representative and place our orders.

Since the KFC has a wide range of offerings, our basic orders are voiced andwe are asked if we need anything extra in our orders so that it can be edified.

There are more than one customer representative so that reduces the time ofstanding to place the order.

Ifthe customer is a regular visitor, its comparatively easier than a new entryto give his order as he is well versed with the menu, for a new entrant if s not

too difficult either as he only has to look over the top of the shoulder of the

customer repsentative and the menu is displayed in banners, and he can make

his order. Once the complete order has been taken the rep asks for any desserts andbeverages and then the representative would give the bill and the next stage of

order processing takes place.

Al-bek

In Al-bek chicken corner , we visited in Rajajinagar 6th

Block, the process of

taking an order is very similar too that

of KFC but they had 2 counters to take order the ..here there are no

barricades so the customers are all rushing towards the cashier so that there

order is taken.it is not well organizedThe menu is placed not similar to that of KFC ,here menu is displayed in the

menu card and cooked dishes are very displayed near the cash counter and

customers can see and

Here we can draw an inference that Al-bek had wide range of dishes while KFChad wide range of combo package. There was no combo offered at

And one very innovative thing with the Albek customer could see dishes avaliabe

as similar in bakery which could not be seen in KFC

The maximum time taken to process the order is 5 min. Once order is place we

have order receipt we need to take it to delivery arena a representative takes order

receipt and delivers our order in least possible time. Some dishes like

kekabs,biryani are delivered immediately and dishes like chicken roll take about 5

minutes to be delivered.

3. LAYOUT DESIGN. KFC

On entry, an enormous aroma of chicken and the smell of fries hit the nostrils.

There was an abstract arrangement of chairs and the tables but the sofas wereorganised.

The colour of the room was taken over by red which continuously gave thethought that one is sitting in KFC.

The windows were transparent which did not give an idea of seclusion. Everything was neatly places with the housekeepers walking in with the mop

and sweeping the floor every now and then.

The centre was in the heart of the city like most of its centres and in a very

famous mall.

To keep the organised and arranges there was a tape that forbid the customerswere moving away from the are reserved for standing in the queue.

Albek

Here we also find enormous smell of chicken dishes which are being served

There are only tables and customers have to stand and eat

There is no ambience and there Is no privacy for customers

4. 4. HOW IS THE FOOD SERVED

Well, in the process where the food is actually being delivered, we use the word

delivered because that is

what happens we are not served.

In both the cases i.e. in KFC and McDonalds the food is given to us in a tray and

we take it to the places

which we have already occupied in the centre.

This actually saves a lot of time for both the customer and the rep's as the rep's

really don't have to worry

about the serving part of it and the customers do not have to worry about the time

being wasted waiting.

In terms of the actual quality of the food which is served, the food is fresh and

steamy as one and everyone

likes it and the desserts and the drinks cold, this gives a sense of hygiene to the

entire centre.

5. WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION is DISPLAYED IN THE CUSTOMER AREA?

KFC

1. The menu is clean and clear, with prices attached to it so that the customer does

not have to ask the rep every time for the price of the food.

2. As such there is no information in the customer area in both these places as the

majority of the information is displayed to the customer the moment he or she

walks into the centre

3. The only available information to the customer is the ray in which there is a

leaflet placed on which various information related to the products an event

management is displayed.

4. Basically, if the customer area had to be divided into two broad categories, they

are one, on the bill payment section and another on the dining section, he

information provided is exhaustive in the former and very minimal in the later.

5. The very basic process of preparing these items is something that is quite

interesting, but that is beyond public interference.
