Purpose of HRM Simulation: Give you a chance to practice what you learn in the course
• Your team will make HR decisions for the company for 8 periods (2 years)
• All teams in this section are one “industry” competing with each other
• Simulation is unique for each section – starts the same but unique due to decisions
• Self-managed teams – iPeer to evaluate contributions at the end

Frequently asked questions
![Page 10: Operating HRM Simulation and Frequently asked questions](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022012712/61ab7161ab5ece3d3f5e12fb/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Q1) What are the HR variables in the simulation?•Staffing, Compensation, Training, and Employee Relations, Employee Turnover, Morale, and Productivity
![Page 11: Operating HRM Simulation and Frequently asked questions](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022012712/61ab7161ab5ece3d3f5e12fb/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Q2) How much is your budget?
•1.4 Million dollars for year 1 (4 periods)•1.6 Million for year 2 (4 periods)•Be careful with wage and benefit increases – use Wage Analysis and Budge Analysis tools•Manage your budget efficiently!
![Page 12: Operating HRM Simulation and Frequently asked questions](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022012712/61ab7161ab5ece3d3f5e12fb/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Q3) Is the budget fixed?
•Can’t say for sure – check your HRM Newsletter regularly for increase or decrease in Budget!
![Page 13: Operating HRM Simulation and Frequently asked questions](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022012712/61ab7161ab5ece3d3f5e12fb/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Q4) How much should I spend on a quarterly basis?• Depends on your Team strategy
• But from the manual, it says that - For Year 1, your budget is $1,400,000. Twenty-five percent ($350,000) should be your target spending for the first quarter (HRM Simulation Manual).
• Every team will have a different strategy – A team may spend more or less than another team for each quarter, but be very careful with your spending
• Please look at your remaining budget after every quarter and spend appropriately

Q5) Deliverables?
•Special Incident Memo, Final Team Project (Report), Team Ranking, Ipeer Evaluation
![Page 15: Operating HRM Simulation and Frequently asked questions](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022012712/61ab7161ab5ece3d3f5e12fb/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Q6) Special Incident Memo?
•After every quarter, you will be given a scenario and you have to decide how to solve that particular issue(s).
•Write a report covering only the first 4 incidents
•Please look at the class syllabus for more information
•More detailed instructions and rubric on Connect
•This is worth 20 Points of the Team Component
![Page 16: Operating HRM Simulation and Frequently asked questions](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022012712/61ab7161ab5ece3d3f5e12fb/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Q7) Final HR Team Simulation Report
•After completing your HRM Simulation, write a report discussing about what you have learned, challenges faced, Improvements.
•Again, please look at the class syllabus for more information
•More detailed instructions and rubric posted on Connect
•This is worth 70 Points of the Team Component

•At the end of the simulation, your team will be compared to all the other teams in the class.
•This is worth 10 Points of the Team Component
• Focus on your strategy and doing well, not ranking
![Page 18: Operating HRM Simulation and Frequently asked questions](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022012712/61ab7161ab5ece3d3f5e12fb/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
Q9) Ipeer Evaluation

Q10) What if our decision is late?
• If you try to submit your decision after the deadline, you will not be able to successfully submit your decision.
•This will negatively affect your overall ranking relative to the other teams.
