3nstallation is done using the nati"e installers a"ailable on each system and the -a"a installer. !hismeans that installation only re%uires that you: if necessary: unpack the installation image andlaunch the specified tool.

7sing the nati"e installer mostly pro"ides better upgrades than not using it.

1pgrading for all users

$hared data such as fonts: e,tensions and templates here the full installation has been performedfor all users on a system: ill be lost after upgrading the softare. 3n an installation for one userthe shared data ill be kept after the upgrade.

!o keep these files in a multiNuser en"ironment: backup your files prior to installation and installthese after upgrade.

Antiirus and firewalls3f you are ha"ing problems ith running certain files or programs hile ha"ing anti"irus orfireall on: you may need to deacti"ate or close these functions on your system to complete theinstallation of the softare.

3f you disconnect to the 3nternet for security purposes hile these functions are deacti"ated orclosed: you must connect to the 3nternet again after installation if you ant to register)pen)ffice.org. Product registration is not re%uired: and it can be done later if you ish.

1pgrading between ma2or ersions

(hile an installation of )pen)ffice.org can be upgraded to a neer "ersion: e recommend thatyou do not upgrade on your system from one ma8or "ersion to another: e.g. from .0 to 9.0.3nstead: remo"e the older installation before installing the neer one. 7pgrading ithin a ma8orrelease: e.g. from 9.1 to 9.: is fine.

Single or multi3user installation

!he softare can be installed in primarily to ays: asingle installationor a multi&userinstallation. 3n a multiNuser installation the softare is installed once and is then a"ailable to allusers of the system. Jou need Administrator permissions on the system to perform this kind ofinstallation. 3n a singleNuser installation the softare is only installed for the user account you arelogged in ith during installation.

Choose the installation that is the best for your situation.
