Prototype

A prototype is

an early sample or model

built to test a concept or process

or to act as a thing to be replicated

or learned from.Wikipedia

A prototype is a basis for a development

of a pilot.

Prototype Types

• Technology prototype – a new operational eSolution

or eService.

• Organizational prototype – a new operational

eSolution or eService in an organizational setting, or

an already proven eSolution or eService in a new

organizational setting.

A basis of a prototype development is

a problem

for which the stakeholders have interest in solving it.

Open Innovation

Open innovation is a paradigm that assumes that firms can and

should use external ideas as well as internal ideas, and internal and

external paths to market, as the firms look to advance their

technology.

The boundaries between a firm and its environment have become

more permeable; innovations can easily transfer inward and

outward.

The central idea behind open innovation is that in a world of widely

distributed knowledge, companies cannot afford to rely entirely on

their own research, but should instead buy or license processes or

inventions (i.e. patents) from other companies.

Living Lab

A Living Lab is an environment in which

researchers, developers and users

cooperate with the common objective of

delivering a tested product, solution or

service respecting the users’ requirements

in a shortest time possible.

The environment may be

a city, a region within a country, an industry, a

supply chain or a whole country.

Innovation take-up in Europe is too slow

It is important to note that Europe is traditionally

stronger in research output and weaker in innovation take-

up (i.e., adoption).

To improve adoption rates, the new EU Horizon

2O2O programme stresses a more holistic perspective for

Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I) and this is

another step in the right direction.

This programme shouldencourage more Europeans

to take measured risks and reap the benefits of new higher-

expectation businesses.

The European Commission has identified the completion of the

Digital Single Market (DSM) as one of its ten political priorities.

A Digital Single Market is one in which the free movement of goods,

persons, services and capital is ensured and where citizens, individuals and

businesses can seamlessly access and exercise online activities under

conditions of fair competition, and a high level of consumer and personal data

protection, irrespective of their nationality or place of residence.

Three strands:

- Better access for consumers and businesses to digital goods and services

across Europe.

- Creating the right conditions, level playing field and environment for digital

networks and content services to flourish.

- Maximising the growth potential of the digital economy.

Open ENLoCC (European Network of Logistics Competence Centers) was

established as a follow up of the “ENLoCC”-project and is an open network of

regional logistics competence centers in the field of logistics, run by public

authorities or similar bodies.

The main task of the network is the international exchange of experience

and knowledge between its participants and the promotion of a higher level of

cooperation with European institutions.

Its members work together on common projects with the aim to develop the

regional economy by solving infrastructural, organisational and technological

problems of logistics and transport. The dissemination of the results of the network

activities and the best practices take place on a wide scale, involving all the key

bodies at EU level.
