    What you can do today

    ReceptionThe main Open Day reception desk is locatedin the marquee on the steps in ront o FultonHouse (17). Members o sta and our teamo Student Ambassadors (identifiable by theirred t-shirts) will be on hand throughout theday to answer any queries.

    Representatives rom Residential Services,Money Advice and the Disability Officewill be based in the marquee outsideFulton House (17) to answer any questionsrelating to accommodation, student fnance,accessibility and disability support. Visitorswith disabilities, please see page 16.

    Finding your way aroundThere is a campus map in the centre o thisprogramme; all numbers in brackets reer to

    the building numbers on the map. Sta andstudents will be available at reception all dayand will be happy to give you directions.

    Information FairVisit the Information Fair between1000 - 1400 in the Refectory, first floorFulton House (17) or an opportunity tospeak to representatives rom academicdepartments about your chosen course.The Students Union will also have a standwhere you can learn more about thehundreds o sports teams, clubs and societies

    Swansea University has to oer, and iyoure interested in studying overseas aspart o your degree scheme, the StudyAbroad Ofce will be available to discussyour options.

    Students UnionTheres more to University than studying andthe SU will undoubtedly enhance your studentexperience. They run over 400 events a year,including the Summer Ball and charity BeerRace, oer over 100 clubs and societies, runthe student newspaper, radio station, shops,bars, nightclubs and oer a whole rangeo services including an advice centre andnursery. Find out how you can get involvedby visiting their stand in the Inormation Fairor attending the Student Life talk at 1100 or1330 in the Grove Lecture Theatre (12).

    Sport at SwanseaSwansea is serious about sport and is hometo over 50 sports teams and clubs. Theannual Varsity event, which sees Swanseacompete against its rivals rom CardiUniversity, is one o the biggest studentevents in the UK and the highlight o thestudent sporting calendar; fnd out more atthe Information Fair and talk at 1400 in theGrove Lecture Theatre (12).

    What time should I arrive?

    The Open Day runs from 0900 - 1600. Weadvise visitors to arrive by 1100 and wouldencourage you to plan your day (page 18)using the inormation in this programme.

    I pre-booked online, where do Iregister?

    You do not need to register but i youwould like help or advice please ask ourStudent Ambassadors (identifiable by theirred t-shirts) or speak to a member o the

    Student Recruitment Team who will beavailable at reception all day.

    What time are shuttle buses back to thetrain station and car park?

    Shuttle buses will run on a loop rom 1330until 1630 rom outside Fulton House (17).

    What accommodation is available to see

    and do I need to book?

    On-Campus - Singleton HallsThese halls are open all day to view at yourleisure in an open house style.

    Off-Campus - Hendrefoelan Student VillageThese flats and houses are 1.5 milesaway from the campus. Coach tours willdepart from the front ofFulton House (17)at half-hourly intervals from 1000 - 1500inclusive. Free tickets must be obtainedfrom the Reception Desk on a first-come,first-served basis. Members of ResidentialServices will also be available for anyaccommodation queries in the marquee infront ofFulton House (17).

    If I live on campus can I bring my car?

    Unortunately due to the compact nature oour campus, student parking is not allowed;however there are car parking spacesin Hendreoelan Student Village. We doadvise students that all amenities are eithera short walk or bus ride away.

    Do I need to speak Welsh to be a

    student at Swansea?

    The majority o our students are non-Welshspeakers but we do have a thriving Welshstudent community and i you are interestedin learning Welsh, the University provides

    many opportunities.

    What if I have questions af ter the

    Open Day?

    From the Recreation Ground car park, turnleft onto Mumbles Road. Continue pastStHelens Rugby/Cricket Ground and takea left turn into Gorse Lane (immediatelybeore the Patti Pavilion). Follow the wall othe grounds, turning left again at the nextjunction (Cricketers Pub on your right).

    At the mini roundabout, turn left, back toMumbles Road. Turn right at the traffic lights

    and, keeping in the right hand lane, continuepast the university campus entrance.

    Turn right at first set of traffic lights (junctionwith Sketty Lane).

    Pass the University Sports Centre on yourleft, Singleton Hospital on your rightand atthe mini roundabout take the rightexit intoSketty Park Road.

    Proceed straight ahead at the traffic lights(ater passing Bishop Gore School on yourright), turning left at the junction withGower Road.

    Continue through next set of trafficlights and straight across the first miniroundabout, passing Olcha School on yourlet, turn right at the next mini roundabout,into Hendreoelan Student Village.

    Follow the drive to the Central Square, whereit should be possible to park. To arrive at theWoodside Flats area, turn right past thetennis courts.
