COOKERY,PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT,ARTS & CRAFTS, PARENTING SKILLS, COMMUNITY HEALTH& INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS.

All courses are commencing in September 2017 unless otherwise specified.

LOCATION

An Tóchar Adult Education Centre is Located in Causeway Village. Causeway is approximately 19Km from Tralee on the R551 regional road. Causeway Parish is bordered to the south by Ardfert/Kilmoyley, to the west by Ballyheigue and to the North East Ballyduff. To the north is the Shannon Estuary and the pier of Meenogahane.

From Tralee - Follow the R551 to Ardfert Village for 9.5Km, continue to Lerrig Cross follow the road to Causeway village. On entering the village turn left onto the Ballyheigue road, An Tóchar centre is located on the right on the top of the hill.

From Listowel - Follow the R553 road to Lisselton for 7Km, turn left at Lisselton cross onto the R554 and follow for 3.5Km. Turn left onto the R551, follow the road until Causeway Village, go though the cross roads, An Tóchar centre is located on the right on the top of the hill.

ANIMAL GROOMING (Minor Award) 5N0752 QQI LEVEL 5Learners will gain skills and knowledge in carrying out the grooming of an animal. Learners will use a variety of equipment and will learn to interpret canine and feline body language. The course will include safe handling and housing of animals, prevention of transmission of disease and maintaining a hygienic facility.Course will run one evening a week for 10 weeks and 5 Saturday’s.Fee €335.00

PROFESSIONAL BARTENDING CITY & GUILDS LEVEL 2This course will give the learner the knowledge and understanding to work as a professional bartender. Learning outcomes include knowledge of beers, wines and spirits; cocktail making techniques and the responsible serving of alcohol. The course will run over 15 days from 10am to 2pm.Commencing October 2017

CERAMICS & DESIGN 4N1139 QQI Level 4This course will equip the learner with the knowledge and skill required to understand the history and process of design and to contribute to the creation of new design in the medium of ceramics.

PALLIATIVE CARE 5N3769 QQI Level 5This course will equip the learner with the knowledge and skills required to care for a person diagnosed with a life- limiting illness and their family in a dignified and holistic manner.

CARE OF THE OLDER PERSON 5N2706 QQI Level 5This award will equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to meet the full range of needs of older people in a variety of care settings.

TEAM LEADERSHIP 6N1948 QQI Level 6In this course learners will research the elements and stages of effective team building. Participants will evaluate different leadership and management styles as well as motivation theories and practical strategies to enhance motivation in teams. This course is suited to managers/leaders in any type of organisation, e.g. childcare, education, retail, health or industrial.

The above courses are free to anyone in receipt of a social welfare payment or the fee is €200.00 for others.

BARISTA COURSEDo you like a cafe latte? Americano? Want to become a barista? This course will give you the knowledge and skills you need to prepare and serve hot and cold drinks in any environment. The course will run over 1 day from 10am to 3pm. Fee: €50.00
