include an index card explaining your entry!

Entries will be accepted on Tuesday, July 13th from 9 am to 1 pm

These items will be displayed in roped area. Damage ? etc. One entry per person. Open to all!

GENERAL RULES & GUIDELINES1. All entries must be received between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the project scheduled day. No LATE entries will be accepted.2. All judging will be closed and will begin at 1 p.m. on the scheduled day unless noted.3. All projects should be removed on Friday, July 16th from 2 pm to 5 pm. There will be NO early release. Items not picked up on Friday can be picked up the week following the fair at the Extension Office during the hours of 8:30 am to 4 pm. -- 765-569-3176.4. There are no residency restrictions to exhibit in Open Class.5. Article of competition must be made within the last 2 years and not previously entered in the Parke County Open Class. 6. Articles of competition must be the work of the exhibitor and can be exhibited no more than ONE (1) year total. If an article is submitted a second year, it will not be eligible for competition -- but will be displayed.7. The Open Class Department reserves the right for an article not to be placed when/if it does not meet the established judging standards.8. All consideration and the award of prizes is based on the judges discretion.9. One entry per division per LOT Number.10. Precautions are taken to ensure the safety of all articles. Items of high value may be removed after judging with approval. The fair will not be responsible for articles damaged, lost or broken.11. Ribbons will be awarded. A Champion and Reserve Champion will be selected in each category. All youth will receive participation ribbons.

GUIDELINES & INFORMATION1. Filling, frosting, glazing, pie filling & meringue, whether cooked or uncooked are NOT PERMITTED to contain cream cheese, whipped cream, unpasteurized milk or unpasteurized eggs/egg whites. Pasteurized eggs or eggs cooked to 160° F may be used.2. Home canned fruits, vegetables or meats are NOT PERMITTED in any product.3. COMPLETE RECIPES MUST BE PROVIDED FOR EACH ENTRY. Entries will NOT be accepted without a recipe. Recipes will NOT be displayed with product.4. Contestants should carefully follow safe food handling practices. Entrants should wash their hands. Hands should not have open cuts before preparing food. Whenever possible, baked products should be transported and stored in chilled coolers (41° F or cooler).5. Youth divided into Class I: Preschool (P) through Sixth (6) Grade Class II: Seventh (7) through Twelfth (12) Grade6. Program at 1 p.m. in the 4-H Community Building (north end)"The History of the Parke County Fair" will share memorable events of the past

fairs in Parke County. We would invite everyone to come join us to learn more about the last 100 +one years of Parke County and the fair.

Baker's Best Competition

2021 Baking Theme: Baking with Rations/Wartime/Depression Era DessertsThe first few years of the Parke County fair came at the end of war and depression.

Celebrate their challenge of the day of baking with limited ingredients.

General Guidelines & Information1. Categories of Baking Contest are: Cookies (6); Bread (quick or yeast); Pie (no meringue); & Cake2. All entries will be received on Friday, July 16, 2021 between 11 a.m. and NOON (12 p.m.) in the 4-H Community Building. No LATE entries will be accepted.3. All entries MUST include a complete recipe card with ingredients and quantities listed.4. Name, address, and phone number must be provided on recipe card.5. Ribbons will be awarded to the first (1st), second (2nd), and third (3rd) place entries.6. Contest is open to any Parke County resident 19 years of age and older and Parke County Extension Homemakers.7. Baked products, plates, pans, dishes to be picked up at the conclusion of the Homemaker's Day at the Fair.8. All participants will follow the Food Safety Guidelines.

Baking Rules & Information

1. Filling, frosting, glazing, pie filling & meringue, whether cooked or uncooked are NOT PERMITTED to contain cream cheese, whipped cream, unpasteurized milk or unpasteurized eggs/egg whites. Pasteurized eggs or eggs cooked to 160° F may be used.

2. Home canned fruits, vegetables or meats are NOT PERMITTED in any product.

3. COMPLETE RECIPES MUST BE PROVIDED FOR EACH ENTRY. Entries will NOT be accepted without a recipe. Recipes will NOT be displayed with product.

4. Contestants should carefully follow safe food handling practices. Entrants should wash their hands. Hands should not have open cuts before preparing food. Whenever possible, baked products should be transported and stored in chilled coolers (41° F or cooler).

5. Judges and individuals who consume products from County and State competitions should know they are at risk for foodborne illness. A judge has the discretion to not taste any item.
