Applications for the 5150 Series include:
Rural cellular and WLL services
Rapidly deployed networks
Private industrial networks (maritime and mining)
Enterprise wireless PBX systems
Technical Specifications:
5150 SeriesThe Range Networks 5150 Series is a family of GSM/SIP
access points that allows cellular handsets to interface
directly with VoIP networks. Based on the OpenBTS
RAN implementation, the 5150 Series presents a
standard GSM radio interface to cellphones and then
represents these as SIP endpoints to a VoIP network.
Range Networks commercial open source software
allows operators to reduce the cost and complexity of
their mobile networks. The 5150 is a complete RAN
node with integrated radio resource control. In small
networks, the 5150 can be used as complete a network
in a box comprising both RAN and core network
functions. It can also be used as a RAN element in
larger networks. To minimize operating costs, the 5150
processes local calls without the need for backhaul
and consumes little power.
