Hochland Tractor Centre was estab-lished in 2002 in Windhoek by Frank van Zyl, the current owner. Hochland Tractor Centre started business with two second-hand tractors. For the first eight years we only sold sec-ond-hand tractors and equipment. It wasn’t always an easy road because you had to convince suppliers to trust you to sell their products.

Hochland Tractors Centre opened a new branch in Ongwediva in Feb-ruary 2015 and is still going from strength to strength.

Hochland Tractor Centre has grown to be one of the leading tractor, implement and equipment suppliers and is currently the sole distributor of Tafe Tractors in Namibia. It has also started importing parts in bulk to ensure sustainable supply of parts to its customers, which will ensure that its products are backed by good after sale service. Hochland Trac-tor Centre has two fully-equipped workshops located in Windhoek and Ongwediva respectively. These

workshops enable Hochland Tractor Centre to provide efficient service to its clients while providing expert ser-vice of equipment, as well as parts for the said equipment.

Hochland Tractor Centre, in co-operation with Afri-Ca Implements, is the leading company in Namibia, developing Mahangu Threshers and Mahangu Dehullers.

Hochland Tractor Centre currently distributes equipment for the follow-ing companies:

THE Roads Authority (RA) was estab-lished in accordance with the Roads Au-thority Act (Act 17 of 1999) to manage the national road network with a view to achieve a safe and efficient road sector through sound management principles and strategies.

At present, the road network comprise of an enormous 44 121km of roads, of which 6 664km are paved roads and 37 457km unpaved roads (earth graded, earth track, gravel and salt). The replacement value of only the top layers and the surfacing of the paved road network of Namibia is currently valued at N$33 326 billion, making it by far the country’s most valuable asset.

“Namibia has made enormous progress with the development of its national road network since independence in the year 1990, in pursuit of social and economic im-mensity and achieving the goals as set out in Vision 2030.

The road network grew from 41 815km in the year 1990, to 44 121km at present, thus an increase of 5,5%,” according to Hileni Fillemon, RA’s Manager Corporate Com-munication Office (photo above).

At independence, the total bitumen road network was 4 572km. At present, the to-tal bitumen road network is 6 664km. This means that the bitumen road network has

Visit the Roads Authority stall at the Trade Fair

increased by 45,76% since independence.According to Fillemon the gravel road

network was 25 550km in 1990 and has since increased by 0,62%.

“The current gravel road network is 25 710km. It must however be noted that many of the gravel roads were upgraded to bitu-men standard, thus the increase in the grav-el road network appears small.”

The total length of ongoing bitumen road construction projects are 1 171km, while the total length of ongoing gravel road pro-jects is 342km.

The total length of bitumen standard roads planned for the next five years as from November 2014 to 2019 is 1 480. The total length of gravel roads planned for the next

five years is 3 206km.As in the past few years the RA will again

participate in the Ongwediva Trade Fair and some services will be availed to the public.

“The Roads Authority will provide Mo-tor Vehicle Licence renewals, information about all NaTIS services including permits as well as providing information about overloading.

The authority will also provide infor-mation on road related matters as well as issue booklets with information of com-pleted and planned roads for the next five years.   General information on bursa-ries, internships and information on SME training will also be available at the stand.” To renew motor vehicle licences, a cus-

tomer is required to provide the following: a)           Notice expiry letter from NaTIS or b)          If notice has not been received, cus-tomers need to complete the green form (Renewal Application Form) accompanied by a certified copy of an ID or driving li-cense.

According to Fillemon the RA will un-fortunately not provide for written learners testing at the fair.

NaTIs offices are currently operational at Ondangwa, Ongwediva, Oshakati, Eenhana NaTIS One Stop Centre at Eenhana Town, and Outapi NaTIS One Stop Centre at Out-api.

“We are busy with the construction of the Opuwo NaTIS centre,” Fillemon concluded.

20 AUGUST 2015 ONGWEDIVA TRADE FAIR SUPPLEMENT INFORMANTÉ |9

Ileni Nandjato

VISITORS to this year’s Ong-wediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) are promised a di-verse and balanced trade show as many ministries, par-astatals and other govern-ment institution are on the waiting list, in order to ac-commodate exhibitors from all trading areas, as a move driven toward globalisation. This year exhibitors are not ex-pected to showcase their prod-ucts and services only, but also to attend various work-shops, seminars and inter-act with international exhibi-tors to share their experience.

This is done because the OATF committee and Ong-wediva town council feel that fifteen years since the start of the show, the event has grown to such an extent it can com-pete in the international market.OATF committee member and spokesperson Andreas Utoni said that everything is ready for this year’s event which will be hosted under the theme: “In-spiring change to build world

Diversified 2015 OATF

class business leaders”, and as a leading institution in the re-gion, they are trying to embrace and motivate changes in terms of local business capacities.“As from this year, we would like OATF exhibitors not to end up in our halls only, but to par-ticipate in international trade fairs in other countries. They can start from neighboring SADC countries and move up from there to the global market.

Thus, this year we organised institutions such as Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development, Social Securi-ty Commission, Development Bank of Namibia and others to give information to our exhibi-tors during the nine-day show.

We also expect our exhibi-tors to take time and mingle with international exhibitors, to ask them questions on how they got here, who assisted them and how did they get to know about OATF,” Utoni said.He continue that last year’s event was a huge success. “We had 445 exhibitor of which 38 were internationals and we recorded a turnout of over 100 000 visitors.

This year as we are speaking we have 440 exhibitors on the first list of which 35 are international. 440 is our maximum capacity, but if we get something unique we al-ways go the extra mile,” he said.Utoni said that they have made renovations to the Queen Hall which used to be a con-

cern to visitors and exhibitors for the past fifteen years. “We renovated the roofing and in-stalled sixteen air ventilations, spending over N$650 000.”This year’s OATF will take place from 21-29 August, with the official opening/gala din-ner this Saturday, 25 July.
