A NEW SLETTER FOR E.T. BOOTH MIDDLE SCHOOL
BOOTH BASH SUCCESS! Thank you to everyone who supported Booth Bash on Friday, October
13th. The event was a complete success! The kids had a blast dancing with the DJ, Playing Battleball with their teachers, quad jumping, bull riding spinning in
the gyroscope, and tons more! Thank you to all of our teachers, parents, and
Etowah students that came to volunteer—we couldn’t have done it without
you!! The Booth Bash raised $7500 that will 100% go towards funding the 2017
-18 PTSA budget. It provides teacher grants, guest motivational speakers for
the students, classroom supplies, School Beautifi-
cation, PASS Program, Reflections, Stu-
dent Enrichment, and much more. Thank you for supporting the PTSA and keeping The Booth
Bash going every year!!
Ice Cream Sales Ice Cream Sales are now on during lunch for the rest of the year. All ice cream in the cooler will be $1. Ice cream will be sold every day as long as there are volunteers to work it. If you are interested in selling ice cream from 11:15am-1:15pm please see the link below. You must have a volunteer form on file at Booth to sell ice cream. www.signupgenius.com/go/4090844a9ab2da02-icecream2/237724
Mr. Wilson was born and raised in Bacliff, Texas. He moved to Atlanta when he was a teenager and attended Kennesaw State University. He received his Bachelor of Sci-ence in secondary Social Science Education. We are honored to have him with us at ET Booth since 2006. That’s 12 year and counting! Mr. Wilson has been married for
12 years to Kay and they have two children; 4 and 8 years old. They also share their home with two rescued kittens. Mr. Wilson has an interest to integrate technology into his classroom and in-troduced a very innovate site called NewsELA. This technology allows him to customize the reading level to each individual stu-dent. This is instrumental in teaching a variety of learning level students! Mr. Wilson is an innovative fun teacher who gets his students involved in creative ways. He believes that in his profes-sion, you must be willing to learn as you are to teach, and his stu-dents teach a different lesson every day. As a parent himself, he believes parents can help prepare their children for learning by teaching them responsibility as early as possible, as well as, make sure they get a good nights rest and eat

A Note From the PTSA
Presidents PTSA had a very busy October! Thanks to everyone who
supported, volunteered, or participated in our big fund-
raiser, Booth Bash! The kids had an incredible time with
the quad jumper, photo booth, money grab machine, gyro-
scope, games, mechanical bull, battle ball with their
teachers, and more. Thanks to the efforts of those in-
volved, PTSA raised around $7500 to support the 2017-
18 budget. This money will assist with student enrich-
ment, school improvements, character building speakers,
teacher grants, and much more. Special thanks to our
Etowah Student Ambassadors that come help us every
year!!
Teacher Grants were submitted in September. We are
pleased to announce that the PTSA was able to supply our
teachers with lots of classroom supplies, classroom maga-
zines, science supplies, apps, assistance to our Friends
Club, and instrument accessories. We were able to grant
over $5000 to our teacher this fall. We could not have
done this without all your support.
PTSA was honored to recently assist with Career Day, the
Veterans Day Program, provide volunteers for Book fair
and Ice Cream Sales. We only had 13 Reflections submis-
sions this year and 7 of those entries placed at the count
level. We are so proud of them and you will see a list of
those winners on another page of the bulletin A fun week
for the students and staff was Red Ribbon Week during
the last week of October. Everyone had a great time par-
ticipating in the fun days that were scheduled by our com-
mittee chairs while they learned about making good
choices and being drug and alcohol free.
All of our programs are so successful thanks to all of you
who have joined PTSA, supported Booth Bash, and given
volunteer time to our programs. We would especially like
to thank all of our committee chairs and executive board
members who go above and beyond giving their time and
efforts to ET Booth.
As we move into our holiday season, PTSA needs your
help in blessing our teachers with a small token of
our appreciation. We would like to supply each teacher
with gift of tissues, Lysol wipes, pencils, hand sanitizer
and paper towels. If you are think about it while you are
out shopping, we will be collecting these items starting
Monday, November 27-December 8 th . Mark your calen-
dars for December 20 th , as we will need help putting
these items together. We will send out a sign -up genius
as it gets closer.
Thanks in advance for all your help!
We hope everyone has a very great Holiday season!

How quickly time flies! It’s hard to believe that we
are already nearing the end of CCSD’s first semes-ter. We have had a great first semester so far, though
it certainly has not been without its challenges. I am thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to observe our students and staff hard at work. However, we’ve cer-
tainly made time for a little fun here and there! As we move into December, students will begin pre-
paring for midterm exams which will take place right before we are out for the holiday break. Scheduling
for these exams is in the works but should be similar to what has been done in the past. Attendance dur-ing these exam times is extremely important, so stu-
dents are encouraged to attend each day for the full day. Please remember that the last day of the semes-
ter for students is on Thursday, December 21st. Stu-dents do not have school on Friday, December 22nd. That’s a day for teachers only. Students will
return from break on Monday, January 8th. Attendance will continue to be very important moving
into second semester as students and teachers ap-proach end of grade testing in the spring. We try to
utilize instructional time as effectively as possible at school, but it is important for students to attend class each daily. Our number one school improve-
ment goal is to increase student growth. I look forward to seeing what the students and staff
of E.T. Booth have in store for the coming months. Before we know it, we’ll be talking about the
next school year! Please continue following us on Twitter, liking our Facebook page, and joining us on Remind so you can receive updates. Additionally, we
will keep sending regular communication via email blast. As always, please let us know if you have any
questions or if there is any information you are not receiving. We hope everyone enjoys the upcoming school breaks!

E. T. Booth’s 2017 Veterans Day program was viewed by over 260 guests from the basketball court. Moreo-ver, Mrs. Daniele Deneka’s Falcon TV crew with Etowah High School TV production members made it possible for over 900 viewers to watch the program at 33 locations around the world, including Germany, Afghanistan, and Mexico, through the ESE Network live stream. While the 7th and 8th Grade Bands played entry music, the Etowah High School Air Force Junior ROTC Saber Team formed a Saber Arch under which all guests passed. The program began with the Junior ROTC Color Guard presented the Colors. Keeping with the tradition of being a program for our students by our students, Kara Drew and Sanjana Su-rapaneni led the program as this year’s Emcees. Narrators Kelsey Cleveland, Dakota Chen, Leighton Whatley, and Riley Warren presented the history of Veterans Day. This year’s feature presentation, America’s Famous Movies and Music based on Military History, was composed and presented by narrators Morgan Busbee, Yasmine Qutob, and Lauren Noyes. Most notably, the presenta-tion included the band and chorus performing together as well as individually. Our guest Speaker, Captain Mark Retzloff (US Navy Retired), inspired our students with examples demon-strating that dedicated scholastic effort builds successful careers. In addition, he pointed out that many suc-cessful personalities, to include singers and actors, served in our military forces. Many thanks go to the Booth PTSA, our Media Specialist Amanda Graves, parents, and teachers who facilitat-ed this student production.
Special Thank You
To these local businesses for supporting our community, school and Veterans by
donating for our program.
