Ongerup/Needilup Museum Notes Luckily rain did not fall to dampen the spirits of the dozen or so Museum Busy Bee volunteers who came to rake, broom, dig and cut the garden beds and walkways back into a neat and manageable area again. A big thank you to all who participated in the clean-up (please note that Cleo the dog and Benedict the toddler were useful members of the team)! The next Museum General Meeting will be 4th August when planning for the Wildflower display will start and information for "pickers" be updated. We will also need to set a date for cleaning the inside of the museum buildings and a pathway and garden maintenance check, prior to

the Wildflower opening day of September 12th. If you are interested in helping, please look out for a note in the Grapevine!

News from the Fairways of the Ongerup Golf Club

Sunday the 26th of June was a stroke completion.

With the Fairways freshly mowed and the course nice

and soft a good field struck out to play in almost per-

fect conditions.

Men’s winner was in form golfer Skeigh Weston with

Net 74. Runner up Tom Hart with Net 78. Ladies win-

ner was Vicki O’Neill with Net 86

It was good to see some 9 hole players turning up to

enjoy the great conditions.

Next week will be the Gnowangerup Men’s Open Day with a good contingent of local players

planning to attend. There will be a Stableford competition for those at home.

Ongerup Roadhouse Update

Pallinup Pastoral Company and Kevin and Laura Ferrel are in the final stages with their conveyancing agenda of the transfer of ownership of their Ongerup Traders Roadhouse to Pallinup Pastoral Co. Following no prospective buyers coming forward for the premis-es and business, Pallinup Pastoral were approached for possible purchase.

The Board viewed the situation with three possible alternatives.

1. Purchase the premises and re-open for fuel usage only, with bowser as is and Ongerup Tyres and Automotive operate fuel only outlet during business hours.

2. Purchase the premises and upgrade fuel outlet to a 24 hour card operation, with Ongerup Tyres and Automotive handling day time cash sales.

3. Purchase the premises and upgrade fuel to 24 hours service and find a family want-ing to lease the Roadhouse as a café-restaurant.

The Board have chosen option 2 as the desirable direction to proceed in, with the finding of personnel to lease and operate the Roadhouse as a café-restaurant being a totally separate project to be handled at an undefined later date, after the successful comple-tion of the purchase of premises and upgrading of fuel outlet to a 24 hour card operation, plus cash sales during business hours.

Pallinup Pastoral Pty Ltd are in a position to successfully purchase the premises with cur-rent cash reserves, but will need additional funds to upgrade the fuel facilities and hence 24 hour service.

Pallinup Pastoral Pty Ltd can use the banking facilities that are available to us, but will need additional community ownership and involvement. The fuel upgrade will cost $30,000 with another $5-10,000 for sundry improvements and expenses. Community in-volvement can be in several different forms. Our traditional funding has been in share holding, with shares being available in multiples of $5,000. People wishing to be in-volved in the project may also contribute by cash donations or a produce commitment such as wool, stock or crop commitment, e.g. 5 ha or multiples of crop at harvest, sub-ject to seasonal conditions. Any of the above would be appreciated. Once the agree-ment is signed, the conveyancing of the title will commence and Pallinup Pastoral Pty Ltd have 30 days for settlement. Even without the Roadhouse progressing, the lease of the fuel component and lease of the house for residential purposes, will give the Pallinup Pastoral Pty Ltd sufficient income to cover share holder dividends and small mainte-nance of sundry items in the foreseeable future.
