Oneworld: Background • One of the three biggest airline alliances, founded in 1999.

• Its stated goal is to be the first-choice airline alliance for the world’s frequent global travelers.

• Its 13 member airlines are Air Berlin, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, and S7 Airlines, plus about 30 affiliated airlines.

• SriLankan Airlines, TAM Airlines, and US Airways (will enter as an affiliate of American Airlines) are members-elect; all three airlines are scheduled to enter Oneworld in 2014.

• Its current central alliance office is based in New York City.

• Its slogan is An alliance of the world’s leading airlines working as one.

• Its member airlines jointly operate a fleet of about 3,300 aircraft (since October 2013), serve nearly one thousand airports in over 150 countries, and carry 475 million passengers on 14,000 daily departures, which makes yearly incomes of over US$140 billion.

Oneworld: Standard Oneworld livery• To commemorate Oneworld’s tenth anniversary

observance in February 2009, the new (optional) Oneworld livery was introduced; this livery features the name of the alliance in big letters that are approximately two metres (6.6 ft) tall and the alliance logo along the fuselage’s side, on a white or a polished metal background.

• As with the Star Alliance and SkyTeam members, the name of the operating member airline is put in smaller lettering in a normal position at the front of the aircraft just under the name of the alliance and the logo.

• Every member airline also keeps its current tailfin design.
