As temperatures climb later this week, geese should start moving back into the area. Codington County Fishing Report: No fishing activity over the weekend – most of the open water has frozen up again and ice fishing conditions are unsafe. Hunting Report: Light Goose: We went from having good numbers of birds in the Henry area last week to having very few birds in the county by Sunday. Hunters are looking forward to the warmer weather at the end of the week in hopes of getting more birds in the area. Day County Fishing Report: Bitter/Waubay: Very few anglers have been venturing onto the ice. High winds and warm temperatures from the previous week have deteriorated shorelines on Waubay and Bitter Lake(s). Rush/Blue Dog Lakes: Shore fishermen have been catching a few walleye casting from shore. The bite has been relatively inconsistent but at times, has produced quality sized walleyes. Hunting Report: Light Goose: Snow goose numbers remain low in the area. Over the weekend, Day County received 8-10 inches of snow and with the cold temperatures in the forecast for the next few days. Numbers should remain low through the weekend. 605.882.5200 | GFP.SD.GOV [email protected] | [email protected] Outdoor Report

The week of March 13, 2017 HuntSAFE classes are available for registration online.

Visit http://gfp.sd.gov/outdoor-learning/hunter-education/ClassList.aspx Ice conditions on many of the lakes have deteriorated, travel not recommended.

Clark County Fishing Report: No fishing activity due to ice conditions.

Hunting Report: Light Goose: There are few snow geese in the area currently, due to the snow storm. As temperatures climb

later this week, geese should start moving back into the area.

Codington County Fishing Report:

No fishing activity over the weekend – most of the open water has frozen up again and ice fishing conditions are unsafe.

Over the weekend, Day County received 8-10

inches of snow and with the cold temperatures in the forecast for the next few days. Numbers should remain low through the weekend.

Hamlin County Fishing Report: Lake Poinsett: A few anglers fished through the ice on Poinsett over the weekend. Sunday was probably the end of being able to venture out on the ice. Much of the north side is open. Anglers caught a few walleye over 15 inches and some perch. Most of the walleye are still under the size limit.

Hunting Report: Light Goose: There are some birds in the Bryant area along with the Lake Poinsett/Mickelson Marsh area.

However, there are far less birds than we saw last week. Hopefully this snow will not stick around very long and we will see a big push of birds toward the end of the week.

Marshall County Fishing Report:

No fishing activity over the weekend – most of the open water has frozen up again and ice fishing conditions are unsafe.

Hunting Report:

Light Goose: Majority of the snow geese have left the county. With the warmer temperatures expected at the end of the week, I anticipate geese returning to the county.
