Mountain Heart - Formed in 1998 by members of Doyle Lawson’s band Quick-silver, Mountain Heart won the IBMA’s “Emerging Artist of the Year” award in 1999 and quickly became a popular staple on the bluegrass circuit. The group has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry more than 125 times and has shared the stage with acts ranging from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Montgomery Gentry, Merle Haggard, George Jones and Brad Paisley to Alison Krauss, Tony Rice, The Avett Brothers, Yonder Mountain Stringband, Levon Helm, John Fogerty and Patty Loveless.

Greensky Bluegrass - Since winning the 2006 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition, Michigan’s Greensky Bluegrass have been playing more than 170 shows a year and sharing stages with Tony Rice and Peter Rowan, Sam Bush, Yonder Mountain String Band and Railroad Earth. The group’s fourth CD, “Five Interstates,” was produced by Railroad Earth’s Tim Carbone.

Charlie Sizemore Band - Based in Nashville where he runs a successful law practice, Charlie Sizemore cut his musical teeth with WV bluegrass legend Melvin Goins and Ralph Stanley’s Clinch Mountain Boys. His new CD is titled “Heartache Looking For a Home.”

Shawn Camp - Raised on a farm in Arkansas, country singer/songwriter Shawn Camp moved to Nashville at age 20 and quickly landed a slot playing fiddle for the Osborne Brothers. From there, he moved on to play with Alan Jackson, Trisha Yearwood, Jerry Reed, Suzy Boggus and Shelby Lynne. Camp kicked off

his solo career in the early-‘90s with the Top 40 single “Fallin’ Never Felt So Good.” His songs have been re-corded by artists including Diamond Rio, Tracy Byrd, Kenny Chesney, John Anderson, and Randy Travis.

Diana Jones - Raised in the Northeast but with roots that go back to the Ten-nessee Mountains - Diana Jones sings her own blend of country, blues and mountain music in the vein of Gillian Welch and Iris DeMent. The title of her current release, “High Atmosphere,” refers to flooding that occurred in Nashville in 2010 and how her house - built on top of hill in 1900 - escaped damage.

Wanda Jackson - One of America’s first major female country and rockabilly singers in the ‘50s, Wanda Jackson has successfully rejuvenated her career numerous times over the years. After becoming a Christian in the early ‘70s, she released a string of gospel records. In the early ‘80s, her career was rekindled when she was rediscovered by rockabilly and country fans in the U.K. and Europe. Her current release is titled “The Party Ain’t Over,” a nod to her 1958 hit “Let’s Have a Party” - originally released by her one-time boyfriend Elvis Presley.

Joe Ely - For three decades, Joe Ely has epitomized the rugged Texas singer/songwriter tradition. As a member of the legendary ‘70s band the Flatlanders - which also featured fellow Texans Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Butch Hancock - he helped pioneer the alt-country genre. Ely’s “Bonfire of Roadmaps,” a collec-tion of road journals and sketches (published by University of Texas Press) was released along with a companion CD titled “Happy Songs From Rattlesnake Gulch.” His current CD is titled “Satisfied at Last,”

Carolyn Wonderland - Powerful blues-rocker Carolyn Wonderland won numer-ous awards in her hometown of Houston - including “Best Female Vocalist” seven out of eight years running. Backed by her band The Imperial Monkeys, Wonderland released her debut, “Play With Matches,” in 1995 and has since performed and toured with the likes of B.B. King, Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, the Allman Brothers, Delbert McClinton, and Buddy Miles.

Jimmie Dale Gilmore & The Wronglers - After playing with The Wronglers at SXSW, legendary singer/songwriter Jimmie Dale Gilmore signed on to sing lead on the record and a U.S. tour. The group’s new CD, “Heirloom Music,” revisits 14 popu-lar roots music standards including “Foggy Mountain Top” and “Deep Ellum Blues.”

The New Rope String Band - Combin-ing superb musicianship with side-splitting comic genius, the members of the New Rope String Band are truly unique entertainers. Elements of circus, clowning, vaudeville, slapstick and sheer inspired silliness are spliced with beautiful acoustic music from various world traditions.

Booker T. Jones - As the leader of Booker T. & the MG’s, Booker T. Jones is one of the architects of the Memphis soul sound of the 1960s. The band was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and charted a number of hits as well as serving as the Stax Records house band and backing a string of legendary singers including Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Eddie Floyd and Albert King. Throughout his career, Jones has produced important releases for artists ranging from Bill Withers and John Lee Hooker to Willie Nelson, Soul Asylum and the Roots. His 2009 solo album “Potato Hole” paired him with the Drive-By Truckers with a cameo by longtime fan Neil Young. In 2011, he issued “The Road from Memphis.”

Jill Sobule - Back in 1995, singer/songwriter Jill Sobule caused a stir in the alter-native pop world -- and made headlines across the country - with her playfully ambiguous hit “ I Kissed A Girl” and “Supermodel,” a cynical take on the high-fashion world of modeling that was featured in the film “Clueless.” Her 2009 release, “California Years,” helped pioneer the idea of fan-funded projects. Sobule raised more than $85,000 in donations from 500 fans.

The Spring Standards - This folk-pop trio formed as the Old Springs Pike in 1999 when the members were still in high school, and for two years played around the Delaware/Pennsylvania area. The group’s music is characterized by strong harmonies and energetic, melodic tunes with all three members - James Cleare, James Smith and Heather Robb - trading instruments. The band’s full-length debut, “Would Things Be Different,” was released in 2010 and led to an appearance on “Conan O’Brien” and tours with the likes of Squeeze, The Old 97s, Marc Broussard, The Clarks, Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers, Ha Ha Tonka and Meg + Dia. In 2012, the band will simultaneously release two Eps, “Red” and “Yellow.”

Lake Street Dive - The four members of Lake Street Dive met when they were students at Boston’s New England Conservatory. Drummer Mike Calabrese and trumpet-wielding guitarist Mike “McDuck” Olson highlight the vocals of jazz-inspired singer Rachel Price and the songwriting chops of bassist Bridget Ke-arney. With members hailing from Tennessee, Iowa, Minneapolis and Philadel-phia, the band’s self-titled third album - its first national release - has expanded the buzz created by LSD’s series of innovative performance videos posted on YouTube.

Kenny White - For many years, White was a fixture in the NY studio scene, writing and producing hundreds of commercials for TV and radio. His relationships with Marc Cohn and Shawn Colvin led to his producing Colvin’s Grammy-nominated, “I Don’t Know Why” and to his involvement in Cohn’s eponymous platinum debut record. White went on to produce records for J Geils Band leader, Peter Wolf which enabled him to assemble an A-list team of players for his debut, 2002’s “Uninvited Guest.” His follow-up, “Sym-phony in 16 Bars” landed in the hands of Judy Collins who signed White to her own Wildflower Records and released the CD in 2005. In 2010 he released “Comfort in the Static,” a showcase of his deft storyteller skills and striking ar-rangements.

Jill Sobule

Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers - Influenced by singer/songwriters like Jim Croce and Cat Stevens, as well as pop-metal bands like Bon Jovi, Stephen Kellogg crosses many stylistic boundaries. He issued solo releases in 2000 and 2002 but it was 2004’s “Bulletproof Heart” that landed him a deal with Universal Re-cords. The band’s 2007 release “Glassjaw Boxer” made it to the ‘Top Five of the year’ list by “USA Today” critic Brian Mansfield. “Gift Horse” is the band’s fifth studio effort.

Fitz & the Tantrums - Since Fitz & the Tantrums’ first show at Hollywood’s Hotel Café in December 2008, this soul-rocking outfit has toured with Maroon 5, played to thousands at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater and shared the stage New Year’s Eve with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. In addition to Fitz, the six-piece group includes keyboardist Jeremy Ruzumna, sax man James King, and dynamic singer/stage persona Noelle Scaggs. The band’s full-length debut, “Pickin’ Up the Pieces,” received a three and a half star review in “Rolling Stone.”

Bearfoot - Winners of the fiercely competitive Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition in 2001, Bearfoot came to Nasvhille by way of its native Alaska. Following the success of its 2009 debut, “Doors And Windows” the band had an abrupt changing of the guard. Original members Angela Oudean and Jason Norris recruited Todd Grebe, another Alaskan transplant, singer/songwriter Nora Jane Struthers and bassist P.J. George - both former members of the band Bootleggers. Bearfoot’s new release, “American Story,” adds percussion, elec-tric bass and accordion to the mix to weave together styles ranging from string band and bluegrass to acoustic pop.

The Sweetback Sisters - Based around the harmony vocals of Zara Bode and Emily Miller, The six-piece, Brooklyn-based Sweetback Sisters specialize in rol-licking retro-country swing. While Bode and Miller were both raised in musical families, their musical backgrounds are completely different, Miller picking up her parents’ country roots and Bode the diversity of Hispanic, Cuban and big band. The lineup also includes guitarist Ross Bellenoit; WV native, guitarist/fiddler Jesse Milnes; drummer Stefan Amidon; and upright bassist Peter Bitenc. The group mines influences ranging from Roger Miller to Patsy Cline on their latest, “Looking for a Fight.”

Katie Costello - Hailing from Hermosa Beach, CA, Katie Costello’s full-length debut, “Kaleidoscope Machine” was released in 2008 when she was just 17. One writer noted that Costello “emerges as a unique and timeless example of an authentic artisan shining amidst the frequently clouded backdrop of mo-dernity.” Her songs have been featured on the “90210,” “One Tree Hill” and “Pri-vate Practice,” while “Isn’t It Lovely” was the grand-prize winner of Sennheiser’s “My Song Contest.” Her current release, “Lamplight,” was produced by Los Angeles-based music guru Tony Berg and was featured in Paste Magazine’s “Best Of What’s Next” piece.
