MASWE is the only state level organization of social work college

employees in India, registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. (Regd No.

MAHA/139/95) MASWE is not a trade union but a

“Movement” for the up-gradation of standards of Social Work Education &

Practice & a platform to discuss various issues.

The Mission Statement & Objective of MASWE were framed after a lot of

deliberations and serious discussions. It is our sincere intention to put each of the above objectives in practice as

can be seen from the list of our programmes and initiatives till date.

Initiated Preparation of Draft Bill of Maharashtra Council of Social Work Education. MASWE has submitted it to Govt.(Now Social Welfare Commissionorate, Pune has forwarded it to Mantralaya for further action )

Capacity Building of Teaching & Non-Teaching Staff-an ongoing process.

Influencing policies of govt. regarding social work colleges and employees.

Formed norms to calculate workload of social work educators.

Providing a platform where social work colleges staff from different parts of the state came together, discuss various issues, share experiences and healthy practices.

MASWE is also “Resource pool” through which experts from different fields are made available to social work colleges and others.

MASWE’s office-bearers and members are nominated on various govt. committees (e.g. Child Welfare Committees, Juvenile Justice Boards, PITA Advisory Committees etc.) and University Authorities (e.g. Senate, Faculty, Board of Studies)

However the major achievement of MASWE has been its success in solving many issues related

to the Social Work Colleges & it’s teaching & non-teaching staff by taking course to peaceful &

statutory means like Sending letters, Representations, Mass Sms, Sending of Rakhis, Meetings with Govt., Dharanas, Gheraos, Chain Hunger Strike, Fast unto Death, Mass Tonsure,

Raising issues in Legislative Assembly & Council through MLAs & MLCs etc. The issues resolved
