McEachern High School HOSA Public Health Team placed 4th in the International Leadership Confer-

ence, held in June 2017, in Orlando, Florida. Team members, Mahogany Counts, Folashade Showale,

and Brittany Neil create a Public Health presentation like no other. This trio were the perfect combina-

tion, places 1st in the Georgia HOSA Public Health event.

It wasn’t an easy road for this group of ladies, but they managed to pull it together their senior year.

Their freshmen year, Folashade and Brittany missed orientation for their event at SLC, disqualifying

them from the competition. They came back strong, placing 5th during their sophomore year. Mahogany

joined the team in their junior year but they didn’t make it to round 2. It was in their senior year, these

ladies came back on a mission to take the judges by storm.

The team created a fun, creative and entertaining

presentation about the Zika virus, for the Public

Health competition. Their enthusiasm and

knowledge captured the judges attention, leaving

them wanting to see more. This advanced the team

to the second round, which ultimately lead to a 1st

place win in the Georgia HOSA Public Health

competition.

All three of these McEachern graduates are cur-

rently attending in and out of state universities,

pursuing degrees in Healthcare.

Please help us CONGRATULATE and encourage the following 4 students for their selection/

participation in the Atlanta Braves Leadership Institute! These students meet twice a

semester for networking and leadership training.

Annual Shop with an Indian Saturday, December 9

th

Shop with an Indian is a community outreach program orga-nized by the McEachern Beta Club. McEachern students sponsor students from the elementary schools in our feeder program. Any MHS student may participate in the program (students with OSS may be restricted from participation). Registration for high school team members includes a shirt, a meal and transportation for each member of the team. Sponsorship of the elementary student includes a shirt, a meal, transportation, gift wrap, crafts and a treat bag for every shopper. Each shopper will also receive $100 to spend at Walmart with his or her assigned team of high school shoppers. Our goal this year is to provide at least 100 elementary school students the op-portunity to participate in the program. Each team (2 MHS Indians) must raise $150 to cover all expenses. This is non-refundable and any money collected on behalf of SWAI must be turned in (even if the team backs out). Indians will need to be available from 8:00am until 3:00pm on event day. Students can NOT participate if they are taking the ACT this day.

To participate, complete the following NO LATER THAN No-vember 10th: 1. Register the team online at http://tinyurl.com/SWAI2017 2. Turn in team payment of $150 to Mrs. Beyke in Macland 114 3. Turn in signed permission slip to Mrs. Beyke in Macland 114

Donations for SWAI (payable to McEachern High School) can be sent to: McEachern High School c/o Beta Club 2400 New Macland Road Powder Springs, GA 30127
