The Centre for Transportation Research and Management (CTRAM) is an autonomous body of Transport Professionals. It was registered as a “Society” in December 1998. CTRAM works under a Governing Council comprising of Senior Transport Professionals and is headed by Member/Traffic, Railway Board, as its Ex-Officio President. One of the key objectives of CTRAM has been to bring Industry, Government Agencies and Transport Professionals together for bringing improvements in infrastructure, systems and procedures. CTRAM provides a forum for cross-sectoral, cross-functional dialogue between policy makers, Industry and Transportation Professionals and Academicians on issues relating to emerging needs for the fast growing economy.
Indian Railways continues to be a resource crunch mode as the rail coefficient remains stagnant and pressure mounting on passenger front. To regain its share of traffic, it is imperative on the part of IR to diversify into value added traffic and adopt various innovations in passenger and freight usiness . Indian Railways needs to be ready for the future by Bcoming into a transformational mode.
With a view to establish a closer dialogue between the Railways, the industry and the Investor, CTRAM is proposing to have a Seminar on “Business Transformation on Indian Railways” with focus on innovations in Passenger and Freight Operations and a paradigm shift in Pricing. There is enormous potential to innovate both Passenger and Freight Operations so as to become Passenger friendly and improve the rail coefficient. There are several challenges and opportunities in strengthening the bond between all the players in this effort. The seminar will provide an excellent opportunity to all the stakeholders to address the issues and be a learning ground for all concerned.
To facilitate such dialogue between IR and Industry, CTRAM has been organizing National Seminars on topical issues every year. So far nineteen such National Level Seminars have been held in different cities of India. The last one was held at New Delhi to discuss the “Railways for Sustainable Development”. Such Seminars are well attended by representatives of Industry, Railways, Government Agencies and Academicians and the recommendations made in the Seminar are sent to decision makers for implementation. The results have been very favorable in terms of implementing the recommendations. It is, therefore important for the Industry Groups to attend the Seminar and present their views as well as share the experience of other industry groups.
Encouraged by the response from earlier Seminars, CTRAM is now organizing its 20th” National Rail Seminar on Business Transformation on Indian Railways” on 18th January, 2019 at New Delhi and invites you to participate and SPONSOR the Event and benefit from the close interaction with the representatives of IR, Govt. and other Industry Groups. We look forward to your active participation and SPONSORING of the EVENT and help us move forward in improving the understanding of common issues and finding solutions.
