Omnisys
• There are a few different activities at Omnisys that may be of your interests.– New correlation spectrometer IC’s.
– New FFT spectrometers
– Future cross correlators
New correlation spectrometer ASIC • The new correlation spectrometer ASIC that is scheduled
for tape out in august have an on-chip ADC and covers – 8 GHz of bandwidth – 1024 1.5-bit channels– 0.3 mW/ch/GHz plus 350 mW– 256, 512, 768 or 1024 channels – Bandwidth: 100 MHz - 8 GHz.
• The ASIC can be used for cross correlation of a single baseline but the design as such can be used for very advanced cross correlator as well.
• The power consumption and processing bandwidth is an order of magnitude better than we have been presented.
New FFT spectrometer modules
• The new FFT spectrometer modules that has been ordered and delivered to a few customers already – 2 GHz of bandwidth per spectrometer board
– Four inputs are provided on the board
– 4 x 500 MHz and 2x1000 MHz has been demonstrated
– 1 x 2000 MHz in the pipeline.
• The board is based on Virtex-4 FPGA’s and we could configure various forms of cross correlators and we can produce custom hardware in a few months lead time.
Future cross correlators
• For the future cross correlators, we have closed a study of interferometers in geosynchronous orbit for aeronomy applications and are implementing a demonstrator now.
• The cross correlator should cover up to – 8 GHz of bandwith over
– 150 cross correlated dual polarisation receiver elements.
• It is estimated that this can be accomplished within a power budget of 30-50 W with the technology available 2010-2012.
