Pathloss Course
Course Objective
Pathloss 5 is vendor neutral independent software for Microwave link design for radio links
operating in the frequency range from 30 MHz to 100 GHz. It is an advanced planning software to design
microwave radio relay links and networks. Transmission engineers working on Microwave network
planning uses this software tools to ensure a methodical and thorough approach to their task.
Covering a variety of topics the objective of this training is to develop knowledge and skills of
microwave link design using Pathloss 5 software.
After successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to
Understand microwave propagation theory along with the basic features of radio system.
Knowledge of different GIS Sources and their use in path calculation and network simulation
Calculate optimized Antenna heights as well as multipath and rain related performance using manual data
and/or digital terrain models
Analyze diffractions and multipath reflections and its effects and how to mitigate.
Perform inter-system and intra-system interference calculations and ensure their frequency channels are
free from harmful threshold degradations,
Generate Link Budgets and understand the significance of multipath propagation reliability to design a
large scale Microwave network.
Calculate multiple parameters of the link and optimise them with respect to the ITU-R performance
objectives as well as cost-effectiveness.
Below modules will be covered in the course with sample network examples and hands on experience on
the tool:

The industrial Automation field works with conveyors, motors, robot arms, PLCs, HMIs, and
SCADA systems. Plants will go through their repetitive manufacturing processes, map out each step, and then
program machinery to repeat these tasks.
Processes are automated so that products can be produced faster, reliably, and accurately to pre-defined
specifications.
The solutions cover design and integration of Instruments, Electrical and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA) systems, Distributed control systems (DCS), and other smaller control system configurations such as
Programmable logic controllers (PLC) often found in industrial and critical infrastructures.

Project management includes the application of specialized skills, knowledge, processes and
procedures to successfully take a project from start to finish. A project can include any type of temporary initiative
or goal, from developing a software program to putting an addition on a house. Project managers study the project
scope and requirements and develop plans and systems to achieve project goals within specified parameters
including time frame and budget. Skills required for project management include communications, leadership, risk
management, time management, analytics and more.

Entrepreneurs act as managers and oversee the launch and growth of an enterprise. Entrepreneurship
is the process by which either an individual or a team identifies a business opportunity and acquires and deploys
the necessary resources required for its exploitation. Regardless of the firm size, big or small, they can partake in entrepreneurship opportunities. The opportunity to
become an entrepreneur requires four criteria.
First, there must be opportunities or situations to recombine resources to generate profit.
Second, entrepreneurship requires differences between people, such as preferential access to certain individuals or
the ability to recognize information about opportunities.
Third, taking on risk is a necessity.
Fourth, the entrepreneurial process requires the organization of people and resources.
