    Chapter 1: Introduction

    The subject of employee motivation will be introduced in this chapter. Together with the

    administrative problems which gives an overview of the problem in the organization this gives us

    a direction to carry out the examination. The study objectives were discussed in detail, along

    with the scope of the research and the contribution of the research.

    1.1: Statement of the Problem:-

    The planet is going through a rapid change and everything is going global and corporate

    globalization is also increasing so it is very important that employees of the company are very

    motivated to grow by leaps and giant the organization. Employee motivation is one of the main

    objectives and the key to any organization. It shows that employees are happy and satisfied with

    their jobs and their wants and needs are taken care of increasing their level of motivation.

    Research should be conducted examining the factors that promote employee motivation in the

    telecommunication industry. In the telecommunication industry, it is quite essential for an

    organization to keep its employees happy so that they are able to come up with new and

    innovative ideas to gain a competitive advantage over other organizations get in the

    telecommunications industry. The research will be conducted in various telecommunication

    organizations of Pakistan as Mobilink , Ufone , Telenor , Warid and Zong .

    1.2: Significance of the Problem:-

    It is very important for organizations to be successful in the market that their employees are

    highly motivated. Organizations today are facing a lot of issues that may affect their efficiency

    and productivity or cripple their functionality. Several cellular companies have maintained their

    status in the industry, but they also face a number of issues relating to the performance of the

    employee if they are less motivated. It is believed that when employees are less motivated this a

    direct effect on productivity, and thus it can have a negative effect on the reputation of the

    company. The symptoms identified included the increased complaints about customer service

    officers, lower performance rating of employees performed according to the performance

    appraisal by the Human Resource Department. The problems on the basis of symptoms may

    harm poor image of the company.

    1.3: Objectives of the Study:-

    i.

    To determine the causes of decrease in motivational level in a particular organization.

    ii. To determine factors that has a positive impact on the level of motivation of the

    employees at a particular organization.

    iii. To investigate motivational differences between genders at a particular organization.

    iv. To propose strategies that would result in improving the quality of work life in the

    company.

    1.4: Scope of the Study:-

    The purpose of this research is to implement strategies in an organization that somehow or the

    other related to the motivational level of employees to evaluate. The scope of the study or

    research project was limited to Lahore. Some offices of each organization were covered.

    Motivational theories were held in conducting the research. Well in mind The relationship

    between the variables is defined within the scope of the investigation.

    1. What is the relationship between employee motivation and job satisfaction?

    2. What is the relationship between employee motivation and Working Environment?

    3. What is the relationship between employee motivation and rewards?

    4. What is the relationship between employee motivation and Burnout?

    Chapter 2: Literature Review

    2.1: Burnout:-

    The article reviewed the work motivation from the viewpoint of staff nurses. This paper

    helped to develop motivation strategies required for nursing staff. To critically analyze the

    results inductive content analysis was being carried out by the researchers. Authors had

    identified five categories of factors affecting motivation of nursing staff. It included the work-

    place characteristics, working conditions, personal characteristics, individual priorities and

    internal psychological states. For further comprehensive research it was required to establish a

    model and theoretical findings.They need to stay active and provides the best services during

    working hours. (Toode, Suominen,2011)

    In this article the author identified the factors affecting motivation of Iranian construction

    operation workers. In this article five hierarchical motivation factors were identified. It includes

    fairness of pay, incentive and monetary rewards, payment of wages and salaries on time, good

    and healthy environment and working facilities and discipline. Moreover, to maintain and

    achieving higher output there should be consistency in motivation techniques being identified.

    2.2: Working Conditions:-

    The article discusses the motivation level required for the workers in construction

    industry. Although there were significant advancements being made through the arrival of latest

    and updated technology and use of machinery but still the actual productivity is far less than

    predicted in construction industry when comparison is made within other operating industries.

    Thus, some of the experts mentioned that motivation and better management of human resource

    plays a vital role in improving the productivity level. The author specifically mention in his

    article that project managers are driving force for employees and they could attain economies of

    scale in construction industry through ,motivating factors. Therefore, the nature of the industry is

    important to determine employee performance. Moreover, there are range of assumptions and

    motivating behavior required in different industries. Furthermore, the employers need to adopt

    different motivational theories and approaches for employees in every specific industry.

    2.4: Job Satisfaction:-

    The study, while the application of the theoretical framework based on expectancy theory

    examined the relationship between satisfaction with pay and work motivation. The dimensions

    i.e. fixed salary, flexible pay and benefits were examined with regard to satisfaction with

    compensation. The work motivation was studied by contrast, effort and performance dimensions.

    Literature and practical survey consists of self - questionnaire was used to the population in

    question, which managerial cadre employees of the sales departments of the mobile service

    providers in Lahore were studying. The relationship between the satisfaction with compensation

    and work motivation were analyzed using Chi Square and correlations. The main findings of the

    study were: 1) satisfaction with compensation factor can work motivation. 2) Flexible

    remuneration is not a motivating factor in the employment that the employees were holding. 3)

    Benefits have a significant impact on work motivation. (Faheem, 2011)

    2.4: Rewards:-

    This study designed to understand how the intrinsic rewards, compared with extrinsic rewards

    are observed as a source of motivation by the staff of NFP organizations. The data were collected

    through a survey with a number of statements about intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. The small-

    sample t-test was used to determine the significance of the responses and thus the hypothesis that

    workers are motivated by intrinsic rewards. The findings of the study are that significant t-test p-

    values marked intrinsic rewards - in particular, the achievements of clients, work / life balance of

    employees, and fun at work - motives as key personnel. (Tippet, 2009)

    Chapter 3: Methodology

    3.1: Research Type:-

    The types of research used in the research project include both the qualitative and quantitative

    methods. These measures provided the basis to examine the reasons of low employee motivation

    at each of the cellular company under my research.

    3.2: Data Type & Research Period:-

    The data used for the research is primary data along with secondary data. Primary data is

    collected by conducting various interviews with the upper management of each company, then

    by distributing questionnaires to the employees of each company.

    Secondary data includes readings of research papers written by prior researchers and these

    papers were derived from sources such as sciencedirect, googlescholar and Jstor.

    3.3: Data Collection method:-

    I would use questionnaires to collect the data from the employees working at each company

    which is under my research.
