Loosen the captive screws on both sides of the adjustable cable trough. Then, raise

the cable trough and fix it at the upper mounting hole, as shown in the figure.

Remove the four screws from the fan box. Pull out the fan box by one-third of its

length with one hand by using the handle key, hold the fan box with the other hand,

and then pull the entire fan box out of the cabinet.

Install the new fan box.

Place the adjustable cable trough to its original position, and then tighten the

captive screws on both sides of the adjustable cable trough.

Install the cables to the panel of the fan box based on the labels.

Set the switch on the DCDU-01 for the fan box to ON.

Replacing the PMU/PSU

Step by step This module is hot-swappable.

Replacing the PMU does not affect the services.

Replacing the PSU (AC/DC) causes power-off of the cabinet and thus disrupts all services

carried by the base station.

Procedure for replacing PMU

Label the cables on the panel of the PMU, and then disconnect the cables from the PMU.

Loosen the screws on the handle of the PMU panel by using a screwdriver.

Pull the handle gently to disconnect the PMU from the subrack, and then remove the PMU

from the slot.

Replacing an RFU

General Remarks Replacing an RFU interrupts the services carried on the RFU.

The electronic labels of boards or modules to be replaced are

determined offline on the M2000 or online on the LMT to determine

the model of the boards or modules.

It takes about 6 to 10 minutes to replace an RFU, which involves

disconnecting the cables, removing screws, removing the faulty RFU,

inserting a new RFU, tightening the screws, connecting the cables to

the new RFU, and loading the software.

The GRFU V1 can be replaced by the GRFU V2, but the GFRU V2

cannot be replaced by the GRFU V1. The two types of GRFUs are

labeled for identification.

Page 80: Omb121430 Mbts Gsm v100r004 Field Maintenance Issue1.00

Replacing an RFU

Step by step Before replacement of the RFU module the M2000 administrator must perform the

following operations:

Transfer the services carried on the module if necessary.

Locate the faulty RFU, and then run the associated MML command on the LMT to block the faulty RFU.

Confirm that the TX channel of the RFU is disabled. In this case, the ACT LED on the panel

of the RFU blinks (on for 1s and off for 1s).

Set the corresponding DC output power switch on the panel of the DCDU to OFF to power

off the RFU.

Label the power cable, RF jumper and CPRI cable on the panel of the faulty RFU, and then

disconnect the cables.

Loosen the screws at the four corners of the RFU using a screwdriver, and then pull the

RFU outwards by 50 mm to 100 mm using the handle. Hold the RFU with one hand and

remove the RFU from the cabinet with the other hand.

Page 81: Omb121430 Mbts Gsm v100r004 Field Maintenance Issue1.00

Replacing an RFU

Step by step (Cont.) Place the new RFU on the corresponding guide rails, and then slide it along the rails until

it is in position, then tighten the captive screws at the four corners to secure the RFU on

the subrack.

Insert the CPRI cable, fix the RF jumper (fasten with tightening torque of 25 N·m to 35

N·m) and reinstall the power cable on the panel of the new RFU according to the labels.

Set the corresponding DC output power switch on the panel of the DCDU to ON to power

on the RFU.

Check the status of the LEDs to determine whether the new RFU works properly. For

details about the status of the LEDs, see the hardware description about the RFU.

Then the M2000 administrator should perform the following operations:

Load and activate the RFU software version.

Run the associated MML command to unblock the RFU.

Check that alarms related to the module are not generated.

Replacing an RRU

Step by step Power off the RRU.

Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves.

Loosen the protection screw on the cover plate of the RRU cabling cavity

and then push the handle outwards to open the cover plate.

Record all the cable connections on the panel of the module to be

replaced.

Disconnect cables from the ports in the cabling cavity and on the bottom

panel.

Loosen the captive screws on the two hoist clamps on the main mounting

bracket using an M4 screwdriver.

Tighten the screws on the attachment plate of the RRU using an M6

screwdriver. Use the screw only for removing the RRU, loosen the

connection between the attachment plate and the main mounting bracket,

and then lift the RRU bottom to remove it.

Replacing an RRU

Step by step (Cont.) Tighten the captive screws on the two hoist clamps on the main

mounting bracket to 1.4 N·m (12.39 lbf.in.). Install a new RRU and

then waterproof the RRU.

Reconnect all the cables to be connected to the RRU, and verify that

vacant cable troughs in the cabling cavity are blocked by waterproof

blocks.

Tighten the protection screw on the cover plate to 1.4 N·m (12.39

lbf.in.) and then close the cover plate.

Power on the RRU.

Check the operating status of the new RRU by observing the status of

RRU LEDs.
