Home Sweet Home at The “Al” The Mavericks have developed a true home field advantage, going 27-9-6 at Al F. Caniglia Field since its open-ing for soccer in Oct. 2013. Overall, Omaha holds an impressive 29-12-7 home record. UNO is on a seven-match unbeaten streak (5-0-2) in home league games and has not dropped a league contest since losing 2-1 to Western Illinois on Oct. 10, 2015. The Mavericks are 13-3-3 all-time in home Summit League matches.

A Hard Road The 2018 non-conference season features 11 matches. The Mavericks open with four-straight home matches. Campbell, Clemson, FGCU, UC Davis, and Utah Valley all visit Caniglia Field for the first time while Cal State Fullerton and Missouri State come to town for the second time. UNO makes its first visit to SMU and UCLA while making its fourth visit to Bradley and Drake.

Battling the Summit The 2018 Summit League regular-season schedule consists of two matches at Caniglia Field and three on the road. The conference portion of the regular season gets underway with 2017 Summit League regular season cham-pion Denver on Sept. 22 at Caniglia. The Mavericks then play Purdue Fort Wayne (Sept. 29), Western Illinois (Oct. 13) and Oral Roberts (Oct. 27) on the road before closing the season at home against Eastern Illinois on Nov. 3.

Your Senior Class• The 2018 Maverick senior class has earned one Summit League regular season and one postseason title.• During its time at UNO, the senior class owns a three-year record of 29-17-10 overall and 10-3-4 in league play.• This year’s senior class -- captain Cole Nelson, Noor Hamadi, Billy Hoffman and Denzel Woods – helped Omaha capture the 2017 Summit League Postseason Championship.

Let Me Introduce Myself• Thirteen newcomers join the Mavericks this season, including four transfers in junior midfielder Marcos Bautista (Green Bay), sophomore midfielder Mitch Hammer (Oregon State), sophomore goalkeeper Jeremy Pollard (Grand Canyon) and redshirt freshman Zach Robbins (Tulsa).• Youde (Junior) Noutoua arrived on campus in January and trained with the Mavericks throughout the spring.• Also donning a UNO jersey for the first time this season are freshman Nil Ayats (midfielder), Miguel Curial (mid-fielder), Hugo Ellouk (defender), Adrian Felix (goalkeeper), Vlad Jokic (forward), Pierce O’Brien (midfielder), David Salazar (midfielder) and Martin Veys (midfielder).

Preseason Summit League Poll The Summit League 2018 Preseason Coaches’ Poll was released in early August. Omaha was picked to finish second, one spot higher than 2017.

Who Are You? Junior Seth Rinderknecht and sophomore Stevie Siy were named to the Summit League Players to Watch list. Rinderknecht anchored the Omaha defense last season and is a two-time First Team All-Summit honoree, while Siy picked up All-Newcomer accolades last season.

Behind the Scenes TopDrawer Soccer recognized assistant coach Nate Baker as one of the Men's Division I assistant coaches to watch on Aug. 23. Baker enters his second season with Omaha. In his first season with the Mavericks, Baker assisted then-head coach Jason Mims to lead UNO to the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. Prior coming to Omaha, Baker was part of Navy’s revival from 2012-2015, he was the top assistant for the legendary Dave Brandt. With Warming now at the helm of Omaha, Baker has helped the smooth transition between coaches.

Back for the Attack With the loss of its top three scorers (two to graduation), Omaha looks for a new offensive leader. Tops among the Mavericks’ returning attackers are Fred Frimpong and Diego Gutierrez. Last season, Frimpong scored twice in the postseason for four points while Gutierrez finished with six points on two goals and two assists. Noor Hamadi has 12 career points on five goals and two assists. Miguel Gomez finished last season with four assists while Nelson added one goal and three assists. Newcomers Nil Ayats, Marcos Bautista and Youde (Junior) Noutoua expect to contribute to the attack this fall.

OMAHA! OMAHA! The 2018 Mavericks will have plenty of homegrown talent on the roster as 13 players are from Nebraska. Eleven of those players hail from the Omaha metro area while two are from South Sioux City. It’s not only the players that have Omaha ties as head coach has been a part of the Omaha soccer community for over 15 years. Assistant Grant Warming graduated from Westside High School.

International Feel Omaha brought in players from Australia, France and Spain this season to go along with its current player from Trinidad & Tobago. Australia: Jeremy Pollard (Sydney, Australia) France: Hugo Ellouk (Paris, France), Ugo Tritz (Metz, France), Martin Veys (Bretteville Sur Odon, France) Spain: Nil Ayats (Taradell, Spain), Marcus Bautista (Albacete, Spain) Trinidad & Tobago: Denzel Woods (Santa Cruz, Trinidad & Tobago)

Bob Warming became the second head coach in Omaha men’s soccer history on April 2, 2018. Warming has compiled a career mark of 463-245-83 in 41 seasons. Before joining the Mavericks, Warming was the head coach at Penn State for eight seasons. He led the Nittany Lions to back-to-back Big Ten Championships in 2012 and 2013, earning Big Ten Coach of the Year accolades both years. Warming directed Penn State to three NCAA Tournament berths including trips to the Sweet 16 in 2010 and 2013. In his eight seasons in State College, Pa., he had a 78-60-18 record. He coached over 25 All-Big Ten players and over 60 Academic All-Conference honorees. In 14 total years in Omaha, served in two different stints (1990-94, 2001-09), Warming, the winningest coach in program history, led the Bluejays to 190 victories, seven Missouri Valley Conference regular season and tournament championships, 11 NCAA Championship appearances and the 2002 College Cup. His teams proved nearly unbeatable at home, compiling a 107-18-15 record in Omaha. In recognition of his dominance in league play, Warming, a three-time Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year honoree, was named the MVC All-Centennial Team Coach in 2006. In between his tenures at Creighton, Warming was the head coach at Saint Louis University, where he guided SLU to four Conference USA championships, four NCAA Championship berths, and the 1997 College Cup. His Billiken teams also finished ranked in the top 20 in all four seasons. During his distinguished career, Warming saw more than 60 of his players play professionally. He was the only coach to have at least one player drafted by Major League Soccer SuperDraft or supplemental draft in all

but one year since the league’s inception in 1996. Warming also previously held head coaching positions at Old Dominion (1996), Charlotte (1982-88), Berry College (1977-81), and Transylvania University (1976). A 1975 graduate of Berea College (Ky.), Warming was a four-sport varsity letterwinner, starring on the golf, swimming, tennis, and soccer teams. As a starting goalkeeper, he posted a 28-2-2 record.
