    Connecting the antenna

    Align the base o the antenna onto the SMA connector and turnclockwise until snug. Do not over tighten.

    To disconnect antenna:Turn the base o the antenna counter clockwise until it comes out

    rom the SMA connector.

    Connect the battery.

    Connect the belt clip.

    Turning your radio on and oTo turn on the power:Rotate the PWR/VOL knob clockwise until beep is heard. Allicons and requencies will appear on the screen.

    To turn off the power:Rotate the PWR/VOL knob counterclockwise. All displays willdisappear and the radio is o.

    Adjusting the volume

    Rotate PWR/VOL while holding down the MON/FUNC key untilyou reach a comortable listening level.

    Rotate PWR/VOL clockwise to increase the volume or

    counterclockwise to decrease the volume.

    BacklightDepress the PTT key or wait or 5 seconds to inactivatethe backlight.

    MonitorDo not talk on a channel i someone else is talking on it.To check or activity on a channel beore you talk, press and holdthe MON/FUNC key.

    I you hear static, the channel is clear to use.

    To exit the unction, release the MON/FUNC key.

    Selecting the channelThe radio has 10 pre-programmed (see pre-programmedrequency table on page 23) channels to use and can beprogrammed up to 32 channels. You can press UP or DOWNto select a channel.

    Talking and listening

    To communicate, all radios in your group must be set to the samechannel and CTCSS\CDCSS codes.

    To talk, press and hold the PTT key. The red TX indicator lightglows continuously when transmitting.

    To receive messages, release the PTT key.

    For maximum clarity, hold the radio two to three inches away romyour mouth and speak directly into the microphone. Do not cover

    the microphone while talking.

    Transmit power settingThe radio can transmit at 1 watt or 4 watt. When 1 watt isselected, will appear on the display. When this icon is o, theradio will transmit with high power. FCC law dictates, you shouldonly increase power to 4 watts i your FCC license permits.

    Press and hold the SCAN button or 2 seconds to switchthe setting.

    Scan

    Use scanning to monitor channels and codes or transmissionsor to nd someone in your group who has accidentally changedchannels. When priority scan eature is enabled, the prioritychannel will be scanned ater every normal channel, regardless owhether the priority channel is added into the scan list.

    To start scanning, briefy press the SCAN key. The scan indicatorwill appear.

    When the radio detects channel activity, it stops scanning and youcan hear the transmission.

    To respond to the transmission, press PTT.

    I the scan stops on a channel that you dont want to listen to,briefy press the UP or DOWN button to resume scanning or thenext active channel.

    To exit the unction, press the SCAN key again.

    Emergency call\ Hands-ree unction

    The emergency call key is used to call others or help whenemergency events happen.

    To enter the radios emergency mode, hold down the EMG

    button or 2 seconds.

    The radio will alternately fash and Channel number/Frequency.The radio will now alternate between 30 seconds o hands-reetransmission and 30 seconds o hands-ree receiving. This loop will

    continue until you exit the emergency mode.

    To exit emergency mode, press the PTT button.

    1. The busy channel lockout eature will be disabled duringemergency mode.

    2. When the battery is low, the radio can still transmit.

    3. Settings o the emergency mode can be altered by thedistributor using the conguration sotware.

    Squelch Level Setting

    The adjustable Squelch allows you to optimize the radios sensitivity.It also allows you to increase the sensitivity and receive weakersignals. There are 5 sensitivity levels. The squelch level is indicated bythe icon and bar icons next to it on the display.

    1. Press MON/FUNC until the current squelch level fashes andappears.

    2. Press UP/DOWN to increase or decrease the squelch level.

    3. Press PTT to set or MON/FUNC to continue set up.

    Level 1 is the most sensitive level, which means the radio canreceive a very weak signal. While at level 5, the radio can only receivestronger signals. In some cases the latter is preerable to preventsensitivity to numerous strong signals in adjacent channels thatmight interere (intermodulation). This can be especially true in the

    case o an environment with a high density o users.

    Keypad Tone Setting

    You may enable or disable the speaker key tones. You will hear thekey tone each time a button is pushed.

    1. Press MON/FUNC until appears. The current setting /fashes and appears.

    2. Press UP/DOWN to turn on or o.3. Press PTT to set or MON/FUNC to continue set up.

    Roger Beep SettingI this eature is enabled, the radio transmits a unique tone when you

    nish transmitting. In the same way as saying Roger or Over, itlets others know you are nished talking.

    1. Press MON/FUNC until appears. The current setting /fashes.

    3. Press PTT to set or MON/FUNC to continue set up.

    Busy Channel Lockout Setting

    The busy channel lockout eature helps to prevent interruptiono communication between other radios using the channel youselected. When you press PTT to transmit, the radio will generate abeep and will appear to alert you that the channel you selectedis busy.

    1. Press MON/FUNC until appears. The current setting /fashes.

    2. Press UP/DOWN to turn on or o.

    3. Press PTT to set or MON/FUNC to continue set up.

    Scan List SettingThe current channel can be added to the scan list or deleted rom thescan list.

    1. Press MON/FUNC until appears. The current setting /fashes.

    2. Press UP/DOWN to select. means add the channel to scan listand will appear. means delete the channel rom scan listand will appear.

    3. Press PTT to set or MON/FUNC to continue set up.

    Priority Channel Setting

    Select one o the channels to be the priority channel. Once you selecta priority channel, activity will be caught more requently.

    2. Press UP/DOWN to select the desired channel or to disablethe unction.

    3. Press PTT to set or MON/FUNC to continue set up.

    Keypad Lock Setting

    The keypad lock disables all the button unctions except the PTT,MON/FUNC and EMG. When the keypad is locked, the willappear in the display.

    Your radio can be customized to t your specic needs. This can

    be done by your dealer or distributor using special congurationsotware. This conguration sotware is used to set all memorychannel parameters including TX and RX requency, TX powerlevel, CTCSS or CDCSS settings, TX bandwidth, BCLO, Scan, andPriority Channel.

    The sotware also allows or setting the Squelch level, Time Outtimer value, Emergency Call enable and timing, Radio ID value,Display type, Power Save, and Low Battery Alert settings.

    This limited warranty is a customers exclusive remedy, and

    applies to new Olympia branded Products and Accessoriespurchased by customers in the United States, which areaccompanied by this written warranty.
