COMMITTEE will meet on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13th at 7:30 PM in the sacristy.

• Prayers for All Souls Day: Into your hands, O Lord, We humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life you embraced them with your tender love, Deliver them now from every evil And bid them enter eternal rest. The old order has passed away; Welcome them into paradise, Where there will be no sorrow, no weeping, nor pain, But only the fullness of peace and joy With your Son and the Holy Spirit For ever and ever. Amen! O Lord, support us all the day long, Until the shadows lengthen, And the evening comes, And the busy world is hushed, And the fever of life is over, And our work is done. Then in your mercy, Grant us a safe lodging, And a holy rest, And peace at last! (John Henry Newman)

those who care for the sick and the dying. We pray for those who suffer from chronic pain and those who live with incurable disease. Let us remember those who are homeless, poor, hungry and without the basic necessities of life. We pray for those who suffer from any addictive or compulsive behavior. On this ALL SOULS DAY we remember all our loved ones who have died; we pray that they will share in the gift of eternal life and that God’s peace will fill all those who grieve the loss of a loved ones. We ask God to continue to bless our parish throughout our annual fall Stewardship Awareness Appeal. Let us pray for each other daily and for our parish. Dear Friends, This weekend we celebrate two very beautiful feast days. On Saturday, November 1st, we celebrate the Feast of All Saints and on Sunday, November 2nd, we remember all those who have died on All Souls Day. On both days we gather together to sing the praises of God who in goodness has filled us with the gift of life, a life that is eternal. We believe that God’s love is indeed very powerful. While we love deeply, we also know that our love has great limitations. Our love is not always able to accomplish what it longs to accomplish. Our love can also be very conditional. The love that God has showered upon us is a love that is limitless; it has no boundaries and is unconditional. God’s love for us conquers all; it even conquers the mystery of death. Death is a profound mystery, life and eternal life is an even more profound mystery. The

gift of life is a gift that transcends even the mystery of death. To love one another is a great gift. It is a gift that fills us with many blessings and memories; and yet is also a gift that, at other times, can “pierce our hearts with great sorrow.” In the gospel of John, Jesus proclaims: “Unless a grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies it produces abundant fruit.” The process of dying to self is never easy; it is, so many times, a difficult process, one that can be heart-wrenching on so many different levels. We believe that our lives are gifts of God’s love. Those who care for us and love us are signs of God’s great love. They are the ones who “enflesh” the gospel message in our lives as they journey the mystery of life with us. This weekend we remember those who have died and who have blest our lives in countless ways. They are truly the ones who are “All Saints,” the Holy Ones who have been for us a great blessing. Our parish church is indeed our “sacred space”, our “holy ground”, our “house of prayer.” It is also our “house of sacred memories.” It is the space where we gather together to remember the presence of God within our lives and all those, living and dead, who have been for us a great and holy blessing from the Lord, our God. Today we remember those who have died, those who have loved us and been for us a sign of God’s ever present love. Peace, Fr. Steve
