State Assessment Information: The annual State Report Card is now available at http://
doe.sd.gov/reportcard/. I encourage you to access it to
learn more about how our district and schools are perform-
ing.
The Report Card encompasses a great deal of information
for understanding how well schools are preparing students
for success after graduation. It is based on a 100-point
School Performance Index, or SPI. The SPI consists of
multiple performance indicators. Two distinct indexes are
used: one for elementary and middle schools, and one for
high schools.
Elementary and middle school performance indicators in-
clude:
Attendance
Student Achievement
High school performance indicators include:
College and career readiness
High school completion
Student achievement
The student achievement indicator is based on student per-
formance on the Smarter Balanced test, which covers Eng-
lish language arts and math. The results shown in the 2015
Report Card represent a brand new baseline for our stu-
dents, because this test measures mastery of more chal-
lenging academic standards. With each passing year, as stu-
dents become more familiar with these standards, it is ex-
pected that student performance will increase, as our young
people rise to these new expectations that put them on the
path to college and career readiness.
For the Oldham-Ramona School District, we had the follow-
ing SPI scores. These scores tells us the students that
scored at or above the proficient level in English language
arts and Math:
Oldham-Ramona Elementary School
47.98
(English language arts, math & attendance)
Oldham-Ramona Junior High School
61.65
(English language arts, math & attendance)
Spring Lake Colony Elementary School
46.67
(English language arts, math & attendance)
Oldham-Ramona High School
65.18
(English language arts, math, high school completion and col-
lege & career readiness
Additional data can be found and explained on the above
website for our Oldham-Ramona Report Card. If you have
any questions about the Report Card, I encourage you to
contact myself or Mike Fischer or Ron Swier. You are a
critical piece of your child’s education, and we appreciate
your continued partnership.
