Concepts of Epidemiology: Integrating the ideas, theories, principles and methods of epidemiologyOxford University Press, 2008 Winner of the British Medical Association Book Awards for Public Health (2003, 1st edition)

Professor Bhopal’s critically acclaimed text is considered a definitive guide to public health epidemiology; the 2nd edition is highly commended by the British Medical Association.

Concepts of Epidemiology is an intensive 5-day course which covers the fundamental principles of epidemiology, giving participants a vital understanding of this widely-used research discipline and practice, with reference to health problems across the world. The course is particularly beneficial for any health care professionals with limited or no experience in epidemiological study and who wish to develop enough knowledge to apply this practice in their own work. Previous attendees have been nurses, doctors, health promoters, health policy makers, health researchers and statisticians, and many more fields.

Prerequisites: No previous knowledge of epidemiology will be assumed. Basic arithmetic, algebra and the use of a calculator will be necessary to carry out the course exercises.
