We were asked to design, supply,

install and commission a smoke

extract system for some residen-

tial apartments in a popular Lon-

don suburb. We got involved

towards the end of the project as

the contractor was not getting

the required response from the

specified company.

We were asked to attend a number of meetings with all parties involved

which included building control, the architect, contractor and building ser-

vices engineer to engineer a system for this building and to comply with

the appropriate standards.

The reason for the system was that there was only one means of escape

for the flats that were above some retail outlets.

The system was installed and

commissioned in a matter of

weeks to enable the new tenants

to move in on the required date

by the building owners so all par-

ties were delighted.
