Our Commitment
The Council’s commitment to residents is to:
●offer improved and better value services, Provide a more transparent , seamless service
● to provide a more efficient maintenance service
● to increase the supply and improve the quality of affordable homes to rent and buy
2016- 2017 – Looking back
●delivered planned maintenance programme in Council Housing stock
● improved contract monitoring and better systems
●new asset management Strategy agreed and implemented
●procured new capital delivery framework

●delivered a £7 million capital programme
●delivered £2million of improvements to services such as water supply, electrical upgrade and lift renewal
●updated and implemented housing policies
●produced final accounts in a shorter timescale
● strengthened the Health and Safety role within Asset Management.
2017- 2018 – Looking Forward
● review the Housing Revenue Account Business Plan following the changes to housing finance and the new Asset Management Strategy
● increase our online offer through the Customer Access Programme
● launch the new capital works delivery framework
● reduce the number of contracts we operate and the time spent on procurement

Delivery and New Supply 2016- 2017 – Looking back
● developed 22 new homes for affordable rent
● delivered 15 additional affordable homes through the Purchase & Repair programme
● achieved planning consent for 148 new affordable homes on eight council-owned sites across the borough, including the replacement of 44 bedsits with one bedroom flats as part of the Marlyon Road estate regeneration
● procured build contractors for the current phase of the new build programme
● agreed a design specification for the new affordable homes programme
Delivery and New Supply 2017- 2018 – Looking Forward
● starting construction on nine sites to build 154 new affordable homes on nine sites across the borough by 2019
● buying more street properties through the Purchase and Repair programme
● identifying a pipeline of new sites with potential for the development of more affordable homes
● increasing the supply of self-contained temporary accommodation in the borough
● working with local housing associations to provide more affordable homes for rent and sale
