The future depends on the present! Every generation leaves

behind a legacy; however, the foot-prints of time are merely

reflective of today’s values and decisions of our own making.

Christianity has always been one generation away from extinc-

tion. The final words spoken by the Messiah during His days

upon this earth still challenge our mission. We are responsible

for sharing the Gospel with the NEXT Generation. What legacy

will we leave behind?

This Fellowship, born in the fire of Pentecost, must never forget

our reason for being or else we will become a memory of what

“used” to be! The NEXT Generation must experience the reality

and the power of the Holy Spirit for themselves rather than

read of our past.

The Oklahoma District has a unique heritage that must be

shared. One avenue of opportunity is by becoming a NEXT

Generation Partner. Through this means, our generation can

offer a youth camp facility that will physically demonstrate our

passion for the NEXT Generation.

Twodatesofextremeimportance:

NEXTGenerationBanquet – every credentialed minister and

companion should make attendance a priority! We are offering

fourteen opportunities for your participation – please note the

dates and locations in this edition. Pastors, please bring your

influencers.

NEXTGenerationCelebrationSunday – the first Sunday of

November! Pastors, please mark that morning and allow your

congregation to invest in the NEXT Generation.

The greatest days for the Oklahoma Assemblies of God are

ahead! Possess the promise!

On June 26, 2010 Reverend ChadBrodrick, Tecumseh First

Assembly of God Pastor, was elected as PresbyterforSec-tionSix. He was chosen to fill the unexpired term of Doyle

Seeley, a faithful brother, who has provided outstanding lead-

ership as a member of the District Presbytery for twenty years.

The Seeleys recently retired from Chandler First Assembly

where they have served as pastor for twenty-seven years.

Pastor Brodrick was born on June 27, 1971 in Cordell, Oklaho-

ma. He spent much of his formative years in eastern Colorado

and southwestern Kansas. He earned a Bachelors Degree from

Central Bible College, Springfield, Missouri. Chad is currently

enrolled in graduate studies at Mid-America Christian Univer-

sity where he is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Leadership.

Chad met his wife, Nyree, at Central Bible College during the

time they were members of The Revivaltime Choir. Nyree,

who grew up at Claremore Verdigris Assembly, is a graduate of

CBC as well as an Oklahoma District Ordained Minister. They

were married July 2, 1994 and have two daughters - Anna (14)

and Miriam (11). Anna serves in the children’s ministries of

the church and has attended National Fine Arts every year in

puppetry. Miriam actively assists in children’s ministries and

has participated in Fun Arts. They play in competitive soccer

leagues.

Brother and Sister Brodrick have served as Pastors of Tecumseh

First Assembly for ten years. They are the second pastors in

the church’s sixty-one year history. Chad has served locally as

Ministerial Alliance President and Police Chaplain in addition

to other community involvement. Chad and Nyree have been

active in the section serving in several representative capaci-

ties including Youth, Girls, Men’s and Women’s Ministries.

Ralph Dean Hollandsworth passed into the arms of the Lord

whom he loved and served on June 4, 2010. Ralph was born on

Nov. 17, 1929, in Cordell, OK, to James I. & Edith Hollandsworth.

When Ralph was in his late teens, he was filled with the Holy

Spirit, and felt the call of God upon his life to become a mis-

sionary. He met his future bride, Rosemary, at First Assembly of

God church in Grand Junction, CO. She was also called to be a

missionary, and they began studying and preparing for a life of

service to God. In 1950, he graduated from Central Bible College, and then served

as senior pastor in Blair, OK. In 1956, after being accepted as a missionary by the

Assemblies of God, Ralph and his bride traveled by ship to Liberia, West Africa where

they served from 1956 - 1975, and then moved to Ghana, where they served from

1975 - 1996. They primarily worked in Bible schools - teaching and training nationals

to preach the gospel of Christ.

Ralph is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Rosemary, his daughter Rebecca

Brooks and her husband Jim, three grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He is

also survived by his sisters, Shirley Gore, & Auda Petraglia, as well as his brother Bob.

NEWPASTORS

Many of us want to leave a legacy for the Next Generation. Now is the

perfect time to make a difference for our children and grandchildren. All

of us will reap the benefits of our investment in our children. We should

make this a sincere matter of prayer and act upon the prompting of the

Holy Spirit.

Many individuals would like to make charitable gifts to specific minis-

tries, but feel they don’t have the available cash to fund such projects.

Below are some ideas that can be used to help current gifts:

CHARITABLEREMAINDERTRUST:If you have highly appreciated real estate or stocks that you are hesitant

to sell due to taxes, transfer that property to a Charitable Trust or gift

annuity. You will get a current tax deduction, but also have the opportu-

nity to earn income on the assets for life. The charity is able to sell the

assets, tax-free, investing the cash, which in turn pays an annual income

to the donor. At the donor’s death, the assets remain with the charity.

STOCKS,REALESTATE,COLLECTIBLESIf you don’t necessarily need income, donate highly appreciated prop-

erty (stocks, real estate, collectibles, etc.) and let the charity sell it. You

get a charitable donation equal to 100% of the value of the property

(subject to IRS limits). The charity will bypass the capital gains tax you

would pay if you sold the property.

LIFEINSURANCEPOLICYTo leverage your dollars for a substantial gift, give money to a charity

with the understanding that they will buy a life insurance policy with

the donated funds. You get the tax deduction and they get a sizable

gift when the donor is deceased that establishes a perpetual fund to

continue for years in your name.

WILLS&TRUSTSYou should always consider making a gift through your estate, either

through your will or trust. If your estate will be over $1,000,000, begin-

ning January 1, 2011, you possibly could pay estate tax. By including a

charity, you can bypass estate tax. As always, you should consult with

an attorney or estate planning professional before making a charitable

trust or gift through your estate plan.

If a delivery company came to your door at work or home tomorrow morning with a cylinder package, your name attached to it and a label that read your family genealogy, you would be distracted with it for hours on end, brooding over every line. Why? Because there are intricately strung stories between every name that speak to who you are today to a great degree. What stories craft your name? Here’s a more practical question: What are you living that’s worth leaving?

The crisis on our hands is second-hand Christianity. The only way to grapple with this challenge appropriately is found in our personal passion for God and His Work. The intervention lies in our participation. God has proven Himself and has made available all that we need. We must live echoing the words of the prophet Habakkuk in chapter three, verse 2 – “Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”

Our participation is the primary essential that can turn the tide. Henry Ward Beecher spoke to this challenge: “It is not well for a man to pray cream and live skim milk.” Dads, Moms, Grand-parents, if we want our posterity to be the cream of the crop, we are going to have to live life in a manner that reflects such a passion. Real prosperity is in godly posterity!

The monies that our district family raises for our new camping facilities and programs reflect this concern. When we consider the impact that has been made on past generations because of a reserved piece of property and time period every year for the children and youth of our state, our responsibility should be commensurate for the sake of future generations. We can make the right statement to the next generation by our eager involve-ment in this timely campaign. (Check out the website at www.thenextcampaign.org.)

May the words of Hebrews 13:7-8 live after us: “Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” All for the glory

of God, and…the NEXT GENERATION.

Too many people feel disconnected to the church.  Some

churches feel disconnected to the district.  How tragic when

pastors feel disconnected to some of their parishioners and

even disconnected to their fellow ministers.  We, everyone,

must invest time and energy in building relationships and

maintaining communication.  When we fail to communicate

imaginations run wild, and we feel disconnected.

To connect the dots and stay in the loop requires an effort.  It

also requires innovation with energy.  Under the tutelage of our

superintendent, Brother Cargill, great strides continue to be

made in closing the gaps and bringing everyone into healthy

connections.  As pastors, teachers, missionaries, evangelists and

administrators we have an open and effective door immedi-

ately in front of us that will usher in new opportunities to make

right connections.  Two of those opportunities I wish to dwell

on now include NEXT and the Church Transformation Network,

CTN.

The Oklahoma District Missions Department stands in the gap

with Brother Cargill and the District Campaign.  For a “buck

a day” we in the Oklahoma missionary family can become a

NEXT Generation Partner.  Partnership has long been a standard

for missions activity around the world.  We partner with our

supporters, our fellow world harvesters and the nationals.  As a

NEXT Generation Partner we connect with the past and future

generations, as well as the present generation of young people.

We can truly connect the dots by partnering with each other,

with present leadership and the NEXT generation of church

leaders and supporters.  Count us in!

The Strategic Faith Journey has begun for numerous churches

in the Oklahoma District.  Jointly sponsored by the Oklahoma

District Council and the National Church Transformation

Network, CTN, three Discovery Weekends and one Retreat

Weekend have already been directed.  These churches involved

were targeted months ago for their size (80-250 in average

Sunday morning attendance) to be invited to take the year-long

Strategic Faith Journey.  So far it has been an exciting journey.

Please let me share with you now testimonials from some of

the participants:

“Thank you so much Brother Warren for this opportunity.  My

group was elated.  We can’t wait for the August 13th and 14th

weekend.  I will also be bringing 6 to the July 24th meeting.  This is

an answer to prayer for me.  Thank you again.”

PastorLaDonnaGrissom,TriumphAssemblyofGod.

“Thanks so much for this weekend and the investment that you

and the district made in the future leadership of this local body.

The group that came with me to this gathering are the future gen-

eration that will make and cast vision for the A/G and this local

church in the next 10-30 years.

All of the teaching presented will enable them to move forward

with God’s will and direction for years to come.  We have been

discussing the material and will continue to evaluate what we

were taught.  It was encouraging for me to see them accept the

process of vision and the leadership that is required to “walk” that

vision through.

For all of us at Spiro First Assembly of God-Thanks and may God

richly bless you and the District leadership.”

PastorRobertHill

“I am so excited about what the Oklahoma District is offering our

churches through the Church Transformation Network.  I have

been waiting for a program like this all of my adult ministry.

THANK YOU so much for making this available to our church.

Now the Oklahoma District has partnered with us to help us

where we could not help ourselves.  They have provided a program

with the CTN and even funded the program to where ANY church

regardless of its size could afford to participate.

Thank you Brother Cargill and Brother Warren for providing this

for us.  I am excited as I have ever been about where our church

is going and this same excitement is shared by those of our con-

gregation who attended Discovery Weekend.  I have heard many

times the question “What does the District ever do for the local

church?”  I now can answer this question with 100% confidence.

From the leadership and staff of Faith Assembly, “THANK YOU for

your investment in our church, families, and community.”

PastorKellyGoins, FaithAssemblyofGod,Tulsa.

Since the debut of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series in 2005,

the four books about love-struck vampires, werewolves and

humans have taken the world by storm. More than 100 million

copies have sold worldwide. The first film generated $408 mil-

lion internationally, followed by another $709 million for the

second film. With the third installment in theaters right now it

has its largely young female fans clamoring for more.

CBS news is reporting that some crazed American teens are

actually biting each other, even drawing blood at times.

I have had students ask me questions in regards to the twilight

series “is it okay for me to watch?” “It’s not so much about the

occult as it’s more about a romantic love story between two

people!!!” “What do you think Doug?”

Other observers say the books about a vampire named Edward

who hunts animals rather than humans and falls in love with a

teenage girl named Bella is, at its core, a classic romance.

There is a great resource out right

now called “Escaping the Vampire”

by youth minister Kimberly Powers.

Kimberly says after talking to doz-

ens of fans of Twilight, she found

the books tapped into a deep long-

ing for love and meaning. “The girls

weren’t coming for the vampires,

they were coming for the love

story,” says Powers. “These girls

are just longing to be accepted.

I’ve seen this for years and years.

This is just another way of drawing them.”

Powers doesn’t denounce the series, but uses it as a tool in her

book: “I want girls to think, I thought Edward was the thing, but

wow, Jesus is truly my rescuer and hero.”

“Escaping the Vampire” is an interesting read, but more than

that, it is a great resource. This book could be used as a series

in February on love and relationships. She does a great job of

spinning the vampire phenomenon back to the true love story

of Jesus!

“Today I recieved my brand new STL vehicle (F-150). My first stop was at Convoy of Hope where I loaded 3 pallets of water and one pallet of MRE’s. I am headed to Tecumsh, OK right now.  What an awesome day THANK YOU OKLAHOMA YOUTH! You rock!”

In a publication called, The Camp Coun-selor, it states that kids camp ministry is a five day glimpse of heaven for many children. Boys and girls walk, talk, play and pray in an environment saturated with friends, games, great nightly services, and more importantly, the Holy Spirit.

We had planned our summer as a time to minister to thousands of Oklahoma kids; but little did we know, we would be the ones receiving ministry.

Our thanks are extended to all of the coaches and staff who served with us this year. We know many sacrificed their time and finances in order to help us at Turner Falls. Joy and I pray that God will bless you beyond measure for the effort and energy that so many have invested in Children’s Ministries during the camp season.

We were sad to see an end of our first year of directing camps; however, we are excited and anticipating what God has planned for the NEXT Generation!
