OCAPL RecordOKLAHOMA CITY ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL LANDMEN
VOLUME 9, ISSUE 7 SEPTEMBER, 20
Secretary’s LetterI would like to wish everyone back to OCAPL from this very hot
summer and hope everyone is well and had a great summer as we look
forward to starting a new year.
It seems that our summer Fishing Tournament, Golf Tournament and
Sporting Clays were huge successes for OCAPL and our members.
Since all of these events fill up quickly, be sure to note the dates for
the upcoming year and get your entries in early.
I personally would like to thank all of the chairmen and co-chairs of
these events for their hard work and their professional expertise in
setting up these events. Without their dedication and the time they
spend, OCAPL could not provide these to our membership.
Also, please thank all the sponsors that contributed money for
these events to make these events so successful for OCAPL and our
membership.
On Monday, September 12, 2011, we had our first CPL luncheon at
the Petroleum Club and listened to Dave Hampton give a presentation
on Basic Indian Land Titles. It was great to see everyone after our

summer break and this event was very well attended by more than 200
people. A big thanks to Dave Hampton for taking his time to speak to
OCAPL and for Robert Kennard and Jon Strickler for their excellent
job in providing speakers for this venue. The October CPL lunch will
have Tim Dowd speaking on 53 common title problems and I am sure
will also be well attended. Please be sure to register online and if you
know someone that could benefit from this event, even if they are not
a CPL, please encourage them to attend.
Later that night we had our first Monday night meeting with guests
that also was well attended and everyone was able to get caught up
with everyone since the summer break.
Our next Monday night meeting will have Brad Foster/ Sr. VP from
Devon Energy as the speaker. We look forward to having a great
crowd at this event also. Nick Watkins and Stephanie Gannaway
have done a great job on Monday Night Speakers, so if you see them,
please let them know.
Be sure to note on your calendars that the 2011 Christmas Party will
be on December 5, 2011, at the Petroleum Club.
All nominations for the 2012 Officers are in and the nominating
committee has recommended Lindsey Miles as Secretary; Mike
Walker as Treasurer; and Stan Wilsey as Vice-President. Our current
Vice-President, Julie Woodard, in conjunction with the OCAPL by-
laws automatically ascents to President.
This year’s AAPL Annual Convention was held in Boston, and
according to Scott Stone, was awesome and had a very large
attendance. Next year’s convention will be held in San Francisco, so
if you plan to attend, please watch for the date and mark it on your
calendar. If it is as hot next summer as it was this summer, this event
will be full.
We all look forward to serving our membership this New Year.

Did you know that Oklahoma has the 8th highest incidence of childhood poverty in the U.S.? Did you know there are over 1.35 million children, from 600,000 families, that are homeless in America?
OCAPL’s annual Christmas Raffle benefitting Oklahoma City’s own Positive Tomorrows and Infant Crisis Services will take place December 5th during the OCAPL Christmas Party at the Petroleum Club in Downtown Oklahoma City. By supporting this OCAPL Event, you’re helping provide a range of vital services to Oklahoma families and children in times of crisis. Last year, thanks to generous sponsors like you, we raised almost $35,000 during this event! We’ve all heard it before, “it’s better to give than to receive.” Why not do both?!? In addition to changing the lives of Oklahoma families and children, over 40 lucky Landmen played the raffle odds and took home some fantastic prizes donated by our dedicated sponsors! We need your support! We need donations from YOU, yes YOU: gift certificates, event tickets, electronics, or anything else that would make an excellent raffle prize. Cash donations are also enthusiastically welcomed! The season of giving is upon us Raffle Tickets will be sold at the Monday Night Meetings beginning in October at $5.00 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20. All proceeds benefit the Oklahoma City’s own Positive Tomorrows and Infant Crisis Services. Thank you for your continued support!!!

About Positive Tomorrows: A Sanctuary of Hope; educating homeless children and their families for life. We provide private, free education that cares for the special needs of Oklahoma City homeless children, Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our teachers, social workers, and a host of volunteers nurture these children academically, socially and emotionally, preparing them for a seamless transition into public school as successful students and citizens. For more information, please visit http://www.positivetomorrows.org/.
About Infant Crisis Services: Infant Crisis Services believes every baby and toddler deserves life’s basic necessities. With the help of the community, Infant Crisis Services supplies life-sustaining formula and food as well as diapers and clothing for babies and toddlers in times of crisis by bridging the gap in current services. Government programs like WIC and DHS often require waiting periods of up to several weeks during a critical time in a baby’s development and don’t provide diapers or certain medically prescribed formulas. Infant Crisis Services serves more than 1,000 babies and toddlers in central Oklahoma each month. For more information, please visit http://www.infantcrisis.org/.
