Recent heavy rains have the lake on the rise at 13.56. We are well above where we should be for this time of year. The high water has scattered the fish all over the lake. Some anglers are catching fish in the marsh areas while others are finding fish scattered along the outside grass lines. One of the determining factors for finding a large school of bass during this time period is to find where the bait is holding. Any factors come into play when trying to figure where the bait will be. The obvious way is to watch for bass chasing and eating shad or other baitfish. During the early morning hours the bass are extremely active and can be found busting bait along the Kissimmee grass lines that surround the lake. A switch in the wind can push the bait from one area to another totally

changing the pattern from one day to another. When the wind is blowing directly into a shore line the bait can get pushed further back into the cover than where you found it yesterday. With all of the influx of water into the lake areas of current flow there will be hotspots for bass to be found schooling on bait that is either swept in with the current or disoriented from the heavy current. Either way, when the bait loads up in a particular area the bass will not be far behind. Lipless crankbaits, spinner baits, top-water plugs, fluke and other fast moving baits are great for catching actively feeding bass. When the fish disappear after schooling, a weighted jig or worm will get biters from bass that are deeper in the water column or on the bottom.
