SOLUTIONS FOR A CHANGING WORLDWe live in a world full of challenges. Population growth, peoples aspirations

for a better quality of life and increased mobility, pollution, climate change

and resource scarcity: all of these societal and environmental issues are

shaping the future of countries and companies alike.

In such a changing world, Oil & Gas companies have to be proactive in

adapting their assets and operations. They need to process new feedstocks,

including biomass, and deliver an evolving set of products, from latest

generation fuels to high quality chemicals.

Axens is fully aware of the energy transition and our mission is to meet

these challenges by providing customers with innovative solutions that are

ever more efficient, and can reconcile environmental needs and

competitiveness without compromising safety. Our state-of-the-art

technologies, services, equipment, catalysts and adsorbents offer the

highest levels of performance, along with an environmental footprint that

is reduced to the very minimum throughout the entire life-cycle.

These kinds of challenges make us passionate about our work and our teams

share a common desire to address them with our customers in a spirit of

close collaboration. In a highly competitive global market, the ability to

work together is a key factor for success.

Turning these challenges into opportunities is a task for people who want

to make a contribution to the world around us and to future generations.

It is a task we are all facing at Axens, along with our suppliers, partners and

clients. And we will succeed together!

PETROCHEMICALS

The petrochemical industry relies upon a wide range of intermediate products and processes to turn source materials into finished goods. Axens provides technologies, along with class-leading catalysts and adsorbents, for the production and purification of olefins and aromatics. These petro chemical intermediates are the building-blocks used in manufacturing polymers for in-dustries such as packaging, automotive, electronics and clothing. In the future, global demand for fuels should experi ence slower growth than the petro chemicals market. In such condi-tions, refining and petrochemical sites will need to be integrated in order to cope with these market changes and to improve asset profitability. Axens has de-veloped a strong expertise in crude to petrochemicals projects.

OIL REFINING

Axens is a major supplier to the worlds oil refineries, providing a range of efficient and sustainable technologies, products, services and equipment. It is a recognized leader in solutions for the production of clean fuels, providing hydro processing technologies and related catalysts that lower the sulfur levels of gasoline and diesel to figures below 10parts per million (ppm). Once removed, the sulfur is then recovered by Claus process units using catalysts a product segment where Axens has a global reputation. Its expertise covers a wide array of solutions from liquid petroleum gas sweetening to vacuum residue conversion. Their combination enables refiners to obtain value from every drop of oil.

MARKETS SERVED

WATER

Axens supplies highperformance water treatment adsorbents for three main markets: drinking water, environmental remediation and industry. For potable water, Axens products are used to remove arsenic and to lower fluoride levels meeting needs that range from village hand-pumps to bottled water and major urban networks. Axens adsorbents are also used to purify storm water and to treat water used by industries such as manufacturing, Oil & Gas, and mining removing arsenic, fluoride, copper, zinc, lead, silica, phosphates and nitrates.

GASES

Even though they represent different markets, the natural gas sector and industrial gases share a common requirement for gas purification and treatment. Axens provides catalysts and adsorbents for purifying and drying nat-ural gas before it is either distributed to end-users or supplied as feedstock for producing Liquefied Natural Gas. Axens products are also used in the processing of industrial gases, the drying of carbon dioxide and nitrogen for the food and chemical industries, and in the drying stage used by air compressors.

RENEWABLES & ALTERNATIVES

Axens is a pioneer in the production of renewable fuels and petrochemicals from biomass. Its technologies can convert various biomass sources into high-quality diesel and jet fuels as well as second- generation ethanol, i.e. from non-edible biomass. Ethanol is used to produce bio -ethylene, while further pro-cesses enable the production of bio-based butadiene and aromatics. Axens has also developed solutions for the production of alternative liquid fuels from non-oil resources, such as the Gas-To-Liquids Fischer -Tropsch technology.

COMMITMENT BUSINESS UNITS

With a wealth of expertise in refining and petrochemicals, Axens mission is to provide sustainable and economically efficient solutions for producing cleaner fuels and petrochemical intermediates from fossil and biomass resources.

Axens operates with three Business Units (BUs), covering all its major markets at a global level.

Axens is an IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) affiliate, a major player in technological research and training in the fields of energy, transport and the environment. In 2001, Procatalyse, a producer of catalysts and adsorbents, joined forces with the Process Licensing & Service Division of IFPEN to create Axens. With more than 60 years experience in the field, the company now provides the Oil & Gas industry with a single source for technologies, catalysts & adsorbents, services and equipment.

Across its wide array of technologies, products and services, Axens commitment is to make its customers more compe titive and successful, while minimizing their environmental footprint.

These objectives, in terms of emissions and resource use, also apply to the companys own production facilities around the world.

CATALYSTS & ADSORBENTS develops and manufactures market- leading catalysts and adsorbents that meet the needs of the industry. The BU also provides customers with technical assistance throughout the whole product life-cycle.

PROCESS LICENSING offers a unique service covering basic engineering design, training, start-up and technical assistance for both new-build, grass-root and revamping projects.

Together the three BUs are devoted to providing operational support throughout theentire lifecycle of the unit. In addition to the three BUs, the Axens Technology Development & Innovation (TDI) department is responsible for improving and developing technologies and products.

PERFORMANCE PROGRAMSsupports clients with a comprehensive range of services from consultancy and pre-feasibility studies to energy efficiency assessments and crude selection optimization.
