    Generic Racks (FIST-GR)

    1. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

    The FIST Generic Rack, FIST-GR, is an all-purpose metal rack designed to accommodate theFIST generic shelf family.

    The FIST-GR complies with metric ETSI specifications; 19 equipment shelves can also be

    installed.

    The FIST-GR is built around 2 modular units: base frame and side duct, which can be

    combined to create different layouts.

    Pigtail Duct

    The bottom of the base frame contains a pigtail and

    patch cord duct system that is used to carry pigtails

    and patch cords from one side duct to the other, or

    from one rack to another in a back-to-backconfiguration.

    3.1.2 Side Duct

    A side duct consists of a bottom, a back and a top which can be mounted on the left, right or

    both sides of the base frame.It is used to manage and house cable, pigtails and patchcords between shelves.

    Cable and Pigtail/Patchcord Entrance

    Facilities are available for cable entry via the top or the

    bottom of each of the side ducts.

    As delivered, the top entrance is covered with a

    removable plate.

    Pigtail Containment Bracket

    Optionally, pigtail containment brackets can be fitted

    at regular intervals on the plate so that cables and

    pigtails can be secured neatly and separated from the

    flex tubes.

    Pigtail Storage Drums

    Optionally, pigtail storage drums can be fitted on the

    side ducts. These allow pigtail/patchcord overlength

    storage for inter-rack patching (bottom section of side

    duct) and overlength storage for outgoing pigtails (top

    section).

    3.1.3 Rack Layout

    a) Rack Layout

    The choice of layout depends upon the specific application and the location of theinstallation

    Key: Side duct 300 x 150 x 2200 or 1700 mm

    Base frame 300 x 600 x 2200 or 1700 mm

    b) Rack Type: XY

    X = 3 300 mm deep frame with or without side ducts

    depending on the choice of option Y.Shelf units mount from the front only.

    X = 6 600 mm deep frame with or without side ducts.

    Shelf units are mountable on both sides, except

    for side ducts option 3 (Ref 3.1.7) where shelf

    units are front-mounted and there is a dummy

    back.

    OR

    Y = 6 No side ducts.

    The unit is 600 mm wide.

    Y = 7 Side duct on one side only.

    The unit is 750 mm wide

    Y = 9 Side ducts on both sides.

    The total width is 900 mm.

    3.1.7 Side Ducts

    Order Ref. Description

    N The side ducts are supplied without any

    drums or brackets on the back plate.1 All side ducts are fitted with drums and

    brackets.

    2 One side duct (on the right) is fitted with

    drums and brackets

    3 In a back-to-back assembly, only the front

    rack has the side ducts fitted with drums and

    brackets. The other rack is an empty

    dummy.

    3.1.8 Cable Element and Pigtail ManagementOrder Ref. Description

    H The horizontal pigtail management system

    (HPM) is provided (as viewed from the

    front of the rack).

    This unit can be reversed in the field if

    desired and/or moved to a different position

    in the rack (higher or lower).

    3.3 ACCESSORIES DESCRIPTION

    The following accessories are ordered separately:

    3.3.1 Cable InstallationFlexible Tubing

    FIST-GS-FLEX-17-50-S5027

    When guiding loose tubes from the cable termination in

    the rack to the entrance of the shelf, flexible tubing is

    used to protect the loose tubes and to control the bend

    radius.

    The flexible tubing has a minimum inner diameter of 17

    mm and a capacity of up to 8 loose tubes.RA11.JPG

    Flexible Tube Clamps

    FISTV-FTC

    A set of 10 plastic clamps to be used instead of tie-wraps

    to secure flexible tubes onto the cable element

    management tray or other locations.

    Tie Wraps

    188 mm long tie wraps are used for fixing the cable and

    Cable Shield Grounding Kit

    FIST-GR-CSGK

    Consists of a plate with 6 grounding points for cable

    shields.

    The plate can be installed in the top or bottom cable

    entrance locations.

    The grounding wire and the connection with the cable

    shield depend on the cable construction and are not

    included in the kit.

    This plate can be added in a rack to extend the capacity

    with 4 or 6 additional cable terminations depending upon

    which cable attachment rail is selected (see below).

    Cable Attachment Rail

    FIST-GR-CAR-128-1622

    This consists of a rail and cable clamps to be mounted on

    a cable termination plate: FIST-GR-ECTK.

    It allows 4 cables (16-22 mm) to be attached viaindividual cable clamps instead of tie-wraps.

    To clamp 6 cables (12-16 mm), use

    FIST-GR-CAR-128-1216.

    Multiple Cable Termination Kit

    FIST-GR-MCTK

    This consists of a split level plate to be mounted on the

    cable element management tray.

    It allows cables to be attached via individual cable clampson both levels.

    Depending upon which cable attachment rail is used (see

    below), either 2 x 8 or 2 x 10 cables can be secured.

    Cable Attachment Rail

    This kit allows 7 additional cables (16-22 mm) to be

    attached via individual cable clamps on any level of themultiple cable termination kit.

    To clamp10 cables (12-16 mm) use the

    FIST-GR-CAR-215-1216.

    Cable Termination Eyelet

    Bags of 50 crimpable eyelets to terminate cable strength

    3.3.2 Pigtail Management

    Pigtail Back Feed-through

    The back feed-through provides access between back-to-back racks for pigtails and patchcords.

    It is installed in the center of the base frame.

    Each kit contains components for one 300 x 600 mm base-

    frame.

    Pigtail Orientation Module

    FIST-GR-POM

    A 5 ETSI HU high module with cover to be inserted in a

    rack allowing to redirect or branch a pigtail bundle.It also exists in 19 width (FIST-GR-POM-I).

    Horizontal Pigtail Management

    FIST-GR-HPM

    A horizontal pigtail management system (HPM) with

    cover can be fitted to store overlengths of patchcords for

    patching within the same rack. The system can be fitted in

    the rack for either left or right patchcord entrance by

    simply turning it upside down.

    3.3.3 Other Accessories

    Cable Entrance Dust Protection

    FIST-GR-CEDP

    Dust protection consists of a set of 6 brushes designed to

    minimize dust ingress via the cable and pigtails entrance.

    Each kit will protect 2 cable entrance openings.

    Grounding Kit

    FIST-GR-GK

    Provides all the components to connect all rack covers

    together for grounding purposes.

    Connections are made with 2.5 mm2, yellow/green color

    coded wires.

    Grounding of the shelves to the rack is provided via the

    shelf mounting brackets.

    Each kit contains components for up to one

    300 x 900 x 2200 mm rack.

    Mounting Bracket for 19 equipment shelf

    FIST-GR-19I-2HU (3HU, 4HU)

    This can be used to mount 19 equipment shelves in an

    ETSI rack FIST-GR (also exists for a 19 FIST-GR). The

    brackets exist in different heights (2HU, 3HU and 4HU) toallow for different sizes of equipment shelves. The depth

    positioning of the shelves in the rack can be varied.

    Each kit contains 1 pair of brackets and fixing components.

    Notes:

    Cable access should be through the front or the back ofthe equipment shelf.

    The rack does not provide controlled heat management.

    Back-to-Back Connection Kit

    This provides the accessories to mount a 300 mm deep

    rack back-to-back with another 300 mm deep rack.

    Each kit contains the accessories for mounting racks up to

    900 mm wide.
