Priorities for the future

LNF, Sep 9 2004

MC Status:• kpm04 production: 2001/02, scale 1:1, 450 pb-1 finished!

• We started on July 27 with 48 CPU B80 (6 pb-1/day)• Around August 10 we (well, Matt, Fabio & Barbara) switched to 160

CPU B80. Problems with the archiver 130 CPU B80 (95 slots)With this configuration 16 pb-1/day

• Production finished on Sep 2:• 409 pb-1 (mco, mcr, dst) done (624Mevs)• 28 pb-1 not simulated (mainly due to missing BMOM,BPOS• 13 pb-1 reconstruction not completed (mainly missing dst’s)

Thanks to Matt, Barbara & Fabio for monitoring the production during August.

• KLS dst production from kpm04:• On Sep 6 with started the production of KLS dst, starting from

reconstructed K+,- (kpm04). This was requested to study the charged kaons contamination in neutral K stream.

• Production rate 30 pb-1/day with 30 slots (~50 B80)• We expect to finish the production in about two weeks from now

Datarec status:• We reconstructed 247 pb-1 of data (29/4 8/9)• Reconstruction efficiency = 95% (Reconstructed data/candidate)

• We keep with data taking• 200 pb-1 of DST have also produced (without k+,-). We should start to look to them!

In the next slides icons must be replaced with a name!

Priorities:HIGH:• NEW version of Datarec (DBV20):

• Insert the new module of the of T0’s and s-t calibration (P.D.S.,T.S.,E.D.L.)• Insert the boost from HEPDB (C.B., G.V., M.M):

• We will reconstruct the run if BMOM version=3 is found (else die?)• In ELCMOD the routines should get the same version (modify getbpos) ( )• We can put spare key = 0 to flag the version=3 and =1 for

the refined fit (4,…) • New module of KL tag with KS 0 0 (S.D.F.)• Update of Detector geometry in DB (S.D.A.)

• MC generation of rare kaons • Caterina has produced a test version of GEANFI in which: - the “rare” decay of the kaon applies only to the primary vertex.

- the selected rare decay applies democratically to both the kaons, (only one data card).

We need to:• Test the executable and data card ( )• Decide whether to produce also charged kaons • Which kind of production (all the campaign of 2001/02, or a selected period? Which scale factor F?)

Page 5: Offline meeting Status of MC/Datarec Priorities for the future LNF, Sep 9 2004

• Some Numbers: KLrare,KS all =3100·0.34 ·410-3=3 nb KSrare,KL all =3100·0.34 · 10-3=1 nb

• TOT ~ 5 nb

(For charged kaons (rare decays) TOT ~ 268 nb)

T/CPU(sec)=Nev/2 =F*5nb*L(nb-1)/2=2.5 F L(nb-1) (F is the scale factor)

Nev/run = F 5*L(nb-1) can be a problem for low luminosity runs (<30nb-1)

If we decide to simulate all the runs, we should apply high F. We can lower F, if we cut on luminosity of the single run (>50 nb-1)

If we apply F=10 and L=400 pb-1NTOT KL,S=50*400*103=20MevsT/CPU = 107 sec= 2.5 days for 50 B80-CPU’s (however if we simulate all 2001/02we can have MC files with less than 1000 events (first runs of 2001))

Simple considerations:

Page 6: Offline meeting Status of MC/Datarec Priorities for the future LNF, Sep 9 2004

Priorities:HIGH:• MC for 2004

• Comparison NEW OLD MC (T.S.+…)• New interaction region in geanfi ( )• Machinery for inserting LSB events

(Modify INSERT to downscale LSB) ( )• New generator (angular distribution and FSR) (Bini,Nguyen)

• Comparison NEW OLD MC (T.S.+…)OTHER PRIORITIES?•MC generations (like at large angle, =10 nb) or

•Reprocessing?

•…. We must discuss and decide!

Inserting boost from DB in ECLIn the new version of ECLMOD, the value of the boost isavailable (at Run Inizialization). Not in all the routines the boost is needed, and in some of them is there.
