Josh Sayler was absent. Officers and others pres- ent: Leonard Schroeder, Su- perintendent, Lance Vander Vorst, Facilitator, Lukus Leidholt, Business Manager, Vickie Deibert, Prairie Pio- neer, Dean Marske and Scott Sikkink of HKG Architechs, Doug Dykstra of GenPro Energy, Mrs. Madden, Mrs. Pudwill, Mrs. Rossow, Mrs. Ritter, and Mr. Hanson. Vice President Ritter called the meeting to order then led the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion by Rueb, second by Hanson and carried with all members voting AYE to approve the agenda. Mr. Vander Vorst Facilitator Report: The January 24th workday consisted of 54 students that were assisted, and the February 7th workday totaled 40 students that were assisted. Congratulations to Rachel Rueb and Tapanga Pierce as January Students of the Month. Mr Kappes has returned to the Country and plans on returning to work for the fourth quarter. Mr. Schroeder Superin- tendent Report: Updated the board on current legislative happenings. Reading plus had been implemented in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. The pro- gram focuses on comprehen- sion, fluency and vocabulary while automatically adjusting to individual student reading needs and levels. Old Business: HKG gave an update on potential plans for the district. Exit Dean Marske and Scott Sikkink. GenPro Electric presented plans for updating lighting in the elementary wing. Exit Doug Dykstra New Business: Mrs. Madden and Mrs. Pudwill presented the ac- tivities that happened in their classroom honoring Martin Luther King Jr day. Mrs. Rossow and Mrs. Ritter informed the board about their tour of Canistota Elementary classes and the observations of Reading Plus that had been implemented in their classrooms. Exit Mrs. Madden, Mrs. Pudwill, Mrs. Rossow and Mrs. Ritter. Mr Schroeder informed the board that February 17th through the 21st was School Board Recognition Week and invited them to observe the school day at their con- venience. Motion by Hanson, second by Rueb and carried with all members voting AYE to ap- point Michele Delzer, Gladys Bauer, and Marion Goehring as the Election Officers. Motion by Hanson, second by Reub and carried with all members voting AYE, with Randall Abstaining, to ap- prove a waiver for Adminis- trative Rule 24:43:02:08. Mr. Schroeder informed the board he would like to have the Elementary Roof inspected and once that was completed would come to the board for a request for proposals. Mr. Schroeder also presented to the board Gymnasium Improvements for consideration in the next Fiscal Year. Motion by Hanson, second by Rueb and carried with all members voting AYE to endorse letters of support for the Herreid Economic Development Committee in building projects for the City. Motion by Rueb, second by Randall and carried with all members voting AYE to approve the Oahe Special Education Coop Agreements for School Year 2020-2021. Board advised Administra- tion to use the existing job description for advertising for the business manager opening. Motion by Rueb, second by Hanson and carried with all members voting AYE to accept the resignation of Pastor Paul Stout as Bus Driver. The board would like to thank Pastor Stout for this time with the District. Motion by Rueb, second by Hanson and carried with all members voting AYE to accept Keith Hall as Bus Driver at $25 per route. Gene and Jerus Reierson of Minnesota and Laurie Oswald visited Mary Lou Thursday night. Myrna Weber was at Floyd and Janice Haan’s for tea on Saturday afternoon. Danielle Mastel was a Sunday morning visitor of Peggy Van Beek. Peggy Van Beek visited Steph Van Beek on Thursday evening. Florian and Marilyn Voller and Dennis Haak stopped briefly at Peggy Van Beeks on Sunday evening. Marlene Dykema visited Toots Brooks on Tuesday. Marlene Dykema accom- panied Ort and Joy Dykema to Linton to attend Strasburg- Zeeland basketball game. Duane and Phyllis Fjeldheim went to Aberdeen on Monday for Phyllis’s doc- tor appointment.
