About the annual Twilight Concert project:

The unique “Twilight Concert” project aims to promote quality orchestral music performed by CYO, by performing challenging repertoires varying from classical music to films scores and by offering a stage to CYO musicians to work with professional musicians from Bangkok and abroad.

The purposes of the Twilight Concert project are to increase the performance standards of CYO and to give

its members opportunities to gain valuable experience by working with visiting guest musicians. In addition, the project hopes to bring quality musical culture to the ChiangRai community. The project was designed to be an annual outdoor performance by CYO during the winter season. The “Twilight Concert” was first organized in 2009 at Villa Darakorn’s botanical garden, initiated by the owners of Villa Darakorn, Khun Suphavit and Khun Pasinee Piamphongsant, who joined efforts with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra’s co-founding member, Khun Witaya Tumornsoontorn, together with Khun Paramet, to run the project on a volunteer basis. The last five“Twilight Concerts” were a big success with an average of 350 guests from Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and Bangkok. Thais and foreigners were impressed by the quality of the performances. The renowned English composer and soloist Richard Harveyin particular has contributed to the development of CYO as a visiting artist, and was invited to be conductor and soloist at the first two concerts.

The sixth annual “Twilight Concert” has arrived to celebrate the New Year 2515, performed by the combined talents of CYO, Silapakorn Repertory Wind Ensemble (of Silapakorn University, Faculty of Music), members of C.U. Strings Orchestra and ChiangRai’s “Le Petit Band.”

The concert will feature guest conductor DamriBanavitayakit (Principal oboist and guest conductor of the “Bangkok Symphony Orchestra”),alongside CYO’s permanent Music Director and conductor, ParametLertkasem.
