33 DAYS TO MORNINGGLORY
MARIAN CONSECRATION
A New Year’s Resolution that we can all take part in
is to consecrate ourselves to Mary in 2015. St. Charles
Borromeo Parish is inviting all to spend a private 33 day retreat
to radically change our lives to be the faithful people God has
made us to be. The book, 33 Days to Morning Glory, is availa-
ble in the parish office for $5.00. The book explains what one
has to do to make this private retreat which leads to the Marian
Consecration on a Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There will
be six parish-wide days of Marian Consecration planned for
2015. The other Marian Days are provided for those who want
to make a more personal consecration in a smaller gathering.
These consecrations will take place after one of the Masses on
that Marian feast day. You can contact Fr. Edward J. Janoch at
440-884-3030 for more information.
St. Charles Borromeo Church January 4, 2015
The Christmas season continues on
this Solemnity of the Epiphany, also called
“Little Christmas” or “Feast of the Three
Kings.” We will continue our Christmas
celebration until next week’s Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.
Our Youth Group invites you to their Pancake
Breakfast this Sunday morning after the 7:30, 9:00, and
10:30am Masses. Stop down in the Lower Parish Hall for a
hearty meal of pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit salad
and a beverage. Proceeds will send our teens to the 2016 World
Youth Day in Poland.
There is a long tradition, especially among those of
Eastern European descent, to bless the house on this day. Chalk
will be blessed at the end of Mass. Take a piece of the blessed
chalk home with you and use it as described below.
Epiphany House Blessing
Select a family member to lead the blessing
of your home. Gather as a family, inside the house, near the main door. Pray together this
blessing:
“LET US PRAY: O Lord, Almighty God, come to
bless our home. May it be a shelter of health, chastity, victory over sin, humility, goodness,
mildness, obedience to your commandments, and
thanksgiving to God the Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. (You may sprinkle holy water within the
house at this time.) May this Epiphany Blessing
remain for all time on this dwelling and upon all who live here. We ask this through Christ Our
Lord!
Amen!”
Then, over the door, use the blessed chalk to inscribe these numbers and letters. (Various
family members may each add a letter or a num-
ber.)
20 + K + M + B + 15
The letters stand for the traditional names
of the Wise Men: Kasper, Melchior, and Balthasar.
The numbers are of this New Year, 2015.
May each St Charles parishioner BE a
blessing to others and may each visitor BRING a blessing to your home.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic
fraternal organization, founded in 1882 by Venerable
Fr. Michael J. McGivney. Members belong to
parish-based councils, where they unite in faith and
fraternity to serve the Church and their civic
community. Knights enjoy a unique solidarity or
fellowship with each other, and work together to
understand their common faith, particularly in helping
those in need. Become a founding member today,

Knight can make. An Informational Meeting is

“NO COST” ANNULMENTS
Older folks remember that once a couple married in the
Catholic Church and lived together, the marital bond was in
place ''till death we do part." In the last forty years, the Church
has come to recognize that some marriages were just "not
right" from the beginning. When a marriage breaks up and
the civil divorce is final, marriages can be considered for a
church annulment.
Unfortunately, there are lots of rumors and poor
information when it comes to annulments: "it takes years"
or "thousands of dollars" are required. In truth, most cases are
decided within a year and the suggested marriage tribunal fee
was $450; and that fee could be waived for those in
financial difficulty. That tribunal fee did not "buy an
annulment" but it did help to pay for tribunal salaries and
expenses.
On May 30th, Bishop Lennon announced a new
policy for the Diocese of Cleveland: all annulment cases
will now be accepted and processed free of any charge. The
Diocese of Cleveland will fully subsidize the work of the
diocesan marriage tribunal. This new policy is effective
immediately.
The form of Catholic marriage is free consent given
before a priest/deacon and two witnesses. For those who
require an annulment from a former marriage, please
contact the priest/deacon of your choice and he will help you
prepare and file your case-now free of charge!
Two thousand years ago, Jesus
called twelve regular guys to be His
apostles. They had to abandon their
plans to follow His plan. It wasn't
easy- but it was worth it.
Today, Jesus continues to call regular guys to be His apostles, His
priests - to spend time in formation in order to be servant-leaders for His Church. And, yes, He is calling high school seniors!
Are you one of the new twelve being called to
Borromeo Seminary? Is He calling you to change your
plans and follow Him? For the sake of the Church, are
you willing to make the same sacrifice those first apostles
made? If you think Christ may be calling you to be one of the
new twelve for the Diocese of Cleveland, don't be afraid to answer His call.
